Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3
Ghost Warrior 3 takes one step forward in comparison to its predecessors and replaces linear progression with large sandbox areas where player can just keep on playing main missions to advance the story or explore maps and do various other side-missions and quests. The player takes control of Jonathan North, a younger of two brothers, both trained snipers, who is dropped somewhere in northern Georgia. Coming back there was not so easy to Jonathan as it is the same place where he lost his brother, Robert North, on their last mission together. While there, Jonathan will team up with his old flame, Lydia, a Georgian sniper. As the story progresses, Jonathan will face a deadly enemy sniper and find out the real truth of what fate has befallen his long lost brother.
The game features several difficulty modes and three upgrade systems that will determine what kind of soldier will Jonathan be… a ghost, a warrior, or a sniper. Skills can be unlocked in any order and selecting one tree doesn’t lock out the other two. There are several fairly large maps to explore which are unlocked as the main story progresses. Bonus missions and side quests are fairly similar and revolve around exploring certain areas, rescuing civilians or helping rebels. High value targets hit list are more difficult side quests which revolve around killing some warlord often accompanies by plenty of bodyguards or a small army.
In safehouses player can change weapons, produce or purchase ammo, buy weapon upgrades, select missions, and check trophies and collectibles. Moving can be done on foot of by vehicle. Most enemy vehicles are locked and cannot be driven unless car keys are acquired. Missions vary from stealth to any-approach-will-do and based on how well each mission is executed money for purchasing new weapons, gadgets and ammo will be awarded, as well as points for character skill upgrades. Besides regular weapons, Jonathan also carries a drone which can tag enemy combatants and be equipped with various functionality and thermal and night vision cameras. When sniping from a large distance, the enemy will take cover from the direction of player’s fire and try to flush the player with mortar strikes. Jonathan can use his special instincts to highlight enemy soldiers and weak points on armored vehicles and helicopters. It also slows down time to make sniping easier. Bullet camera, if enabled, kicks in only on more precise shots, such as head shots. Sniper rifles support different ammo type which is best suited against certain type of enemy (e.g. armor-piercing bullets ignore most of enemy armor, explosive bullets can break down trees to create bridges, special bullets ignore wind and always hit dead center).
