A story about being at the right place at the right time and asking the right questions. Back in 2009 I was a Gamestop manager and I went to that Manager’s conference. In the Sega room presentation, I asked one of the reps afterwards if they had anything I could get to use with my car at car shows.

I showed her pictures of my car, which I had done with a Sonic theme (paint color is actually called Sonic Blue) including red wheels, gold lugnuts with a white stripe….even a HEDGHOG tag.

She loved the pictures and gave me her email asking for me to send those pictures to her after the conference.

I did just that and then she replied asking for my address. A few weeks later I got a box in the mail. 😯

Needless to say I was floored! On top of a ton of Sonic games they also included a 1 of 500, 10th anniversary statue plus a copy of Sonic Heroes signed by Yuji Naka….underneath the factory wrapping!

That was 15 years ago and I still have a majority of the items minus a few small things I gave to some kids at car shows. And of course I’ve added a lot to my collection as well.

Sega did good and I appreciate them still for what they sent me.

  1. Fantastic story, sad that relationships with big companies are so different nowadays.

  2. To be honest I feel like Sega treats their fans more better than Nintendo. You surely got the mother load of gifts.

  6. I was going to make comments about knowing the owner of that car. Lol then I saw who posted! Hi Jason!

  7. Sega were good at freebies, back in the late 90’s running the games department at HMV Oxford Circus , the Sega Rep was very generous, Arsenal tickets and loads of white label Dreamcast games, which I still have now
