Bought a small (550 sqft) home this last summer. Almost no room for my full collection. I sold off about 66% of my collection for downsizing but mostly towards a down payment. As much as I miss and regret selling a massive chunk, I’m happy to have my own place with a big fenced in yard for the dog and couldn’t imagine trying to fit what I had into this house. It’s been a struggle trying to arrange things so that it’s not so cramped and more comfortable to hang out in. Still not ideal. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have it ideal. To put it into perspective, this little corner is about 20% of my homes size and is in my mud room. Fortunately I was able to put my series x, ps5 and switch in my living room on the 4k tv. My next home will have to be bigger 🤪
Are you cramped for space? Any tips or inspiration?
This post has been captured from our very own retro gaming group over at FB
The only other thing you can try is custom shelving if you know someone who can make them for you/get you a good deal
You did the right thing! Enjoy tweaking your space over time, and congratulations on buying your own home. 🙂
Bro, that might be small but it’s frigging awesome!
Hey bro, we’ve all been there man ar sometime or another an had get rid some stuff we’d like get back man…Nice collection Bro!
I sold off maybe a 4th of my video game stuff a year ago. I got tired of seeing stuff everywhere. Especially stuff that didn’t get used often enough. I now enjoy what I have a lot more as I am not stressed out by having too much stuff but I actually play games because I am not longer unable to decide on what to play from having too much choice.
Your place looks nice. You’re doing a great job.
Looks like you’re doing awesome with the space you have available! Nice room!
Congrats on the house. I bought mine a year and a half ago. Had to sell a chunk off as well. I have more sq footage than the old place but a smaller game room/office at the new place and am constantly battling how to fit more in it. Basically finding creative ways of fitting things in. Wall mounted shelves work great for little things. I have several around the office. Under the TV, above the door, above the window, etc.
Can’t remember if I commented on this post already but I just went through the photos again and I’d hang out in that spot!
Small is fine, as long as its clean and safe, which it looks like you have covered.
Guys will see this and think “ hell yeah”
Our first house was about 900 square feet and the third bedroom was my game room. It was only about 8 feet by 12 feet. Like a glorified walk in closet. Our new place has a basement so am currently building a game room there. It still won’t be huge but will be bigger. I’ve downsized my collection anyway so don’t need a massive room anyway.
I swear I saw you post those t shirt canvases in another group the other day
Congratulations for buying your own place! I’m cramped for space, and I keep most of my staff in my office. I think one needs some room to truly enjoy their collection(s). Displaying the boxes, arranging and rearranging games and systems is ALMOST as fun as playing games.
Underoath 🤝
Looks great! Love that you’re displaying some band merch!
Shouldn’t keep disc games stored for long periods horizontally, in time the disc will flex downwards. Always standing up
Moved recently and just started converting my garage into my gameroom
I like those dust covers! I’ve never seen before.
Love the wood paneling man! That’s one of my plans for my game room.
Build some ceiling shelving where each shelf has a lip to hold the games/books in place.
So your the only one who bought sunset override lol
