Chapter 14 – End of the World is the climactic chapter in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, serving as the fourteenth and final Main Chapter in the game. This chapter marks the conclusion of the second installment in the Final Fantasy 7 story. Following the events of Chapter 13 – Where Angels Fear to Tread, you’ll resume the story as Zack, along with his version of Aerith and Cloud. Proceed downstairs and exit Aerith’s House to advance to the Sector 5 Undercity, where you’ll have the opportunity to select a gift for Aerith. Your choice is inconsequential, as the Stall Owner will provide a different item regardless. Next, you’ll visit a candy store; once again, your selection doesn’t matter since the lady will offer you an alternative.

After a brief update on Zack, the focus shifts back to Cloud and Aerith, accompanied by Sephiroth’s voiceover. Choose a pose for the picture, witness Zack’s activities, and then accompany Aerith to their favourite spot for a cutscene featuring Zack and Sephiroth’s interjections. The story then returns to Cloud and Aerith at the Church for an extended cutscene. When you regain control of Cloud later, battle the Whispers as you navigate through the forest, then pursue Aerith and respond to the button prompts as they appear on the screen.

The game will then shift perspective to the rest of the party, including the other Cloud, who are searching for Aerith. As you walk through the Sleeping Forest, interact with your teammates, and you’ll eventually discover the Forgotten Capital. Upon regaining control, proceed down the Fated Path, defeating the Whispers you encounter along the way. You’ll pass through the wall of Whispers in a cutscene, and then find yourself in the Planet’s Sanctuary. Take the elevator down and utilize the Rest Stop and Shops located to the side; this is your final opportunity to prepare.

With preparations complete, approach Aerith at the centre of the Whispers and respond to the button prompts. Following the cutscene, you’ll confront the Jenova Lifeclinger. The boss will undergo several transformations and alter your party composition throughout the battle, swapping members in and out. After defeating the boss, Cloud and Zack will face Sephiroth together. The two characters will engage him in the first encounter, followed by Cloud facing Sephiroth Reborn alone.

Start by crippling the Body, which will allow you to climb the boss and reach a higher platform to attack it directly. After depleting roughly a quarter of its health, you’ll need to battle Bahamut Arisen Whisper as Tifa, Red XIII, and Cait Sith. Once defeated, focus on either the left or right wing of Sephiroth Reborn. The Bahamut Arisen Whisper will reappear with half health; defeat it once more and target the other wing to fully vanquish Bahamut Arisen Whisper. The scene then shifts to Zack, who must also confront Sephiroth Reborn.

Target its Chest, then concentrate on the main health bar. After removing another quarter of the health bar, control returns to Red XIII, Barret, and Yuffie, who can target the boss’ Core. However, you must first destroy the two wings using Spells. Once the health bar is completely depleted, Cloud and Aerith have one final encounter with Sephiroth.
