Before committing to the competition, take a moment to converse with Aerith, Tifa, Red XIII, and Barret. Once you’ve caught up with your comrades, proceed to enlist in the Queen’s Blood tournament. Triumph in this grand event, and you’ll be awarded a coveted Trophy to commemorate your victory.

After participating in the Queen’s Blood tournament, it’s time to head back to your accommodations on the Economy Floor for a well-deserved rest. However, your slumber is interrupted by the ship’s alarm — a call to action for Cloud. Rise from your quarters and seek out Captain Titov who will inform you that the Shinra-8 is now overrun with creatures. On the Sundeck, be prepared to endure three successive waves of monster attacks.

Following the outdoor skirmish, make your way back inside to rescue a crew member besieged by a duo of adversaries. Your journey then takes you below decks where Tifa joins forces with you to help eradicate the remaining monsters from the ship. After the battle, utilize the Rest Stop to recuperate; then press on deeper into the vessel.

Cloud and Tifa’s path soon brings them face-to-face with hooded figures who have undergone monstrous mutations. Engage in combat with these foes, utilizing Tifa’s superior abilities to stagger them swiftly. Upon their defeat, a revealing cutscene featuring Hojo will shed light on the mysterious events unfolding aboard the cruise ship.

Upon regaining control, delve deeper into the bowels of the Shinra-8 by descending the staircase to the Cargo Hold. Here, Barret’s voice rings out, guiding you toward your next objective through a gauntlet of foes. Emerging from the Cargo Hold, you’ll find a Rest Stop to recover and Shops at your disposal for stocking up on essentials. Seize this opportunity to prepare before moving to liberate Barret.

Your search leads to the Engine Room, where a cutscene unfolds, revealing the menacing Sephiroth and the emergence of Jenova Emergent.

As you face this formidable boss, you’ll notice it has a primary health bar and its head as a secondary target. With Tifa at the helm, focus her assaults on the body, while directing Barret’s abilities toward the head. This strategy will help you stagger the boss efficiently, allowing you to concentrate attacks on the main health bar. Tifa’s Divekick proves to be particularly effective for both dealing substantial damage and applying pressure to the Jenova Emergent.

Once the Jenova Emergent’s health is depleted by about 25%, it will release itself from the ceiling and gain mobility on the floor. Maintain your initial combat strategy during this phase. As the boss’s health falls to the last quarter, be prepared for tentacles to spawn throughout the arena. Prioritize these new threats as they’re relatively fragile but can cause significant disruption if ignored. Eliminate them swiftly to refocus on the Jenova Emergent. Upon defeating this adversary, you will have triumphantly concluded Chapter 5.
