In “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth,” Chapter 9 is titled “The Planet Stirs” and follows Cloud and his companions as they journey away from the Corel Region. Our guide for “Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth” includes a thorough walkthrough for Chapter 9. This walkthrough will cover all the essential details and strategies to help you navigate through “The Planet Stirs.”
After the intermission featuring Zack, you regain control of Cloud as he and his allies make their getaway from the Corel Region in the large buggy. The game will steer you on a set path until a cinematic sequence triggers, showing Yuffie collapsing. This prompts the group to consider investigating another Mako reactor located to the south. At this juncture, you have the option to revisit The Gold Saucer for additional Side Quests and a variety of minigames, or you can continue with the primary narrative, which lies over 1,000 metres ahead.
Navigate the southern mountain trails, and soon you’ll discover a lush tropical jungle across the water. Traverse the waterway with the buggy, and you’ll arrive in the Gongaga Region. Here, you’ll have to abandon the buggy and proceed on foot, making your way through the dense jungle until you reach the village of Gongaga.
Upon being invited into the village, accompany Cissnei up the hill to the monument, after which she’ll offer her house as a place for you to rest. Take this opportunity to explore the village, meet several new characters, indulge in playing the Piano and Queen’s Blood, and visit the Shops. It’s also important to converse with all your party members; find Yuffie inside Cissnei’s House, catch Barret admiring the garden patch, locate Tifa by the building housing the Piano, and notice Aerith heading into the house at the bottom-right corner. Enter after her to encounter Zack’s parents, and then have a discussion with Aerith outside. Once you’re set to continue, proceed to the Rest Stop in Cissnei’s House. Don’t forget to collect the Bird of Prey from the purple chest found within.
Hours later, Cloud is roused by a distant roar emanating from the reactor, prompting the group to spring into action and investigate. Join Yuffie as she gathers the team at the monument, where a decision is made for the ladies to stay back while Cloud, Barret, Red XIII, and Cait Sith set off towards the reactor. Exit Gongaga and follow the trail to your objective marker, taking the time to complete World Intel tasks and defeating foes for XP along the way. When you reach the final stretch, you’ll need to swim with the current to cover the last several hundred metres to the reactor.
Upon arriving at the Gongaga Reactor, Cloud experiences visions that coalesce into an apparition of Sephiroth, compelling him to pursue the images. Adjacent to the Rest Stop is an entrance that leads down into the reactor’s facility. After your initial skirmish with enemies, instead of proceeding straight through the narrow gap, enter the room behind the foes to find a purple chest containing the Crystal Sword. Retrieve the weapon, then return to squeeze through the crack to continue deeper into the reactor. The path from this point is straightforward and you cannot stray off course. To activate the gate, locate a plug on the ground, pick it up, and insert it into the corresponding console.
Upon reaching the Coolant Control area, dispatch the pair of adversaries. Then ascend the remnants of a shattered bridge to catch yet another spectral image of Sephiroth. Descend into the water below and swim to your left until you come across a ladder. Climb it to reach another control terminal that lacks power. To energize it, reposition the green crate to free the ensnared wire, then connect the wire to the red console. With this done, you’re now able to modify the water level using the initial computer. Make your way back to the water basin, where you can now descend and ascend on the opposite side by utilizing a ledge that has become accessible.
At the conclusion of the subsequent corridor, you’ll find a Rest Stop and Shops. From there, make a left turn to enter the Reactor Core. A cinematic sequence will play out in which Shinra arrives, accompanied by a host of new monsters that you must overcome, culminating in a challenging boss fight. After you have successfully defeated the boss, Scarlet will make her entrance piloting a large mech and will attack the party with a powerful blast. Following this event, the narrative shifts back to the women who remained in Gongaga. Feeling the tremors from the explosion, they resolve to head to the reactor as well to offer assistance.
Riding Chocobos, the journey to the reactor is hastened, thanks to the ability to utilize the mushroom bounce pads for swift travel. Upon arrival, overcome the troopers stationed at the entrance, then navigate through the reactor, retracing the route previously taken, this time employing the Grappling Gun for passage. When you arrive at the room that’s open to the sky, the task is once again to connect the cable to the console. Initially, the cable is too short to reach. Use the Grappling Gun to ascend to the overhead rafters and push the piece of machinery that the wire is connected to forward. This adjustment will allow the wire to stretch sufficiently to be connected to the console.
Vanquish the next assembly of adversaries outside, and then employ the Grappling Gun to move between platforms and battle zones. The route is straightforward, so if the grapple point is not immediately apparent, simply continue to explore the vicinity. You will eventually arrive at a Rest Stop and Shops. Utilize these facilities, and then use the Grappling Gun to ascend to the subsequent path. At this point, a helicopter will engage you with gunfire. A zipline will facilitate your entry into the Reactor Core. Here, you must confront Scarlet aboard the Crimson Mare Mk. II, which features sabers on its right and left hands as potential targets. These appendages are vulnerable to Lightning damage, and it’s advisable to concentrate your attacks on them first before tackling the main chassis of the mech.
Once you’ve dismantled both sabers, Scarlet will upgrade her armaments, replacing them with Makocannons. Persist in demolishing any weapon she affixes to the mech’s limbs. Once those are dealt with, focus your attacks on the mech’s torso to stagger it, and continue the assault until you’ve definitively neutralized the threat. Post-battle, you’ll take the helm as Tifa. Use the Grappling Gun to navigate towards Scarlet, who is now maneuvering a crane.
Subsequent to the cinematic where Cloud, under Sephiroth’s influence, turns against Tifa, you’ll find yourself swimming towards Barret. However, The Weapon will appear to consume her. In the ensuing underwater sequences, your control is limited to responding to on-screen button prompts and observing the events that transpire. When you’re back in control as Cloud, move towards The Weapon, and the narrative will progress to the point where Tifa is returned to the group.
The narrative resumes in Cissnei’s House, where the next course of action is proposed: a journey to Cosmo Canyon. Once your entire party has reconvened, take a moment to organize their Materia setups. After preparations are complete, exit Gongaga by making your way to the Gongaga Airstrip. Upon arrival at the airstrip, engage with the telephone booth to discover that a smoke signal is necessary to summon the pilot. Remit the 1,000 Gil charge to the pilot, and with that settled, the entire party is clear to embark, bringing Chapter 9 to a close.
