Hey how’s it going guys, I’m new the group here. I know this Xbox isn’t 30yrs or older but let me share a story with y’all. Probably the #1 reason why I’m a PlayStation fan.
Back when these game systems came out my dad bought one for himself. I remember my brother and I were super excited to take it out the box and play with it. Little did we know that wasn’t going to be the case with this one. My dad hooked it up once and messed with it for a little bit. Then decided to put it away back its box. We weren’t allowed to take it out the box much less play with it. Why did he decided to do that, we don’t know. I remember during summer breaks we would dare each other take it out and hook it up while he was at work but we never did.
20 some years later it still sits in it’s original box basically brand new. Never played with or anything. I kinda wanna ask him if I can take it out and hook it up now. I’m sure he won’t care now nor does he remember why he didn’t let us play with it. So it’ll probably it there for another 20 some years collecting dust.

Found my old PSP while I was out in the garage today. Got this for my bday in May of 2005.
In box and unused or not, the clock capacitor is probably going bad, and once they leak, if left alone they eat the board making them unrepairable.
I’ve got a stack of them that are junk from exactly this.
I’m proud to say not one of my consoles are boxed 🤣
I would buy as is. Just name a price

Dude, ask your dad! It might be a dumb, stupid reason, or it could be something else. Knowing would be worth much more than whatever physical value that Xbox has imho.
I think the 30 was meant for age of people? Right?
Ask him lol. He’s your dad man. Just ask why he doesn’t want to take it out of the box and if you can have it if he doesn’t want to play it. 🤷♂️
I bought an inbox xbox like this from my neighbor. I have no idea why it was still boxed. I bought it to keep it in box for the collection. We use an already unboxed one if we want to play. Definitely worth keeping boxed.
He’s keeping it near-mint condition, this thing is worth some money for sure, and will only grow in value. I wouldn’t play this one, go buy one for some cash if you wanna play (totally worth it) but this one’s value is in the box.
That’s crazy man. It’s such a great console. It’s too bad he didn’t let you guys play it!
Leave it alone if you want it to retain its value, and buy a UV case to keep it in for protection. I myself would pay about $1,500 for that one depending on the condition of the other sides of the box.
