I’ll play devil’s advocate. Who was there? No one except for him. How do you verify him? You take his word? I’m not 13 I’m 40. I’ve seen many cheats over the years. If he even came close to this score and time over the coming days in the company of other people, I’d shut up give him the benefit of the doubt. If he even enters ONE public tournament IN THE REAL WORLD and ranks well, I’ll eat crow and apologize to him. Who knows maybe he’s been seen in public tournaments? But all I see is a video of him in his bedroom. And I hope I’m wrong. He was all alone with a camera on his face via twitch where people have been known to cheat. I’ve been playing this version of Tetris for 35 years. I simply don’t believe he did this. Were any of you there?
The way he holds the controller “rolling” you can’t even verify the button presses match up with what he’s doing on the screen. He holds the controller upside down and presses the back of the controller. Then he wears a glove so you can’t see his fingers. I understand rolling is the proper technique but unless he’s being verified in some form it’s quite easy to manipulate viewers though a video stream. You give me one day and I can make the same video on twitch. I’ll even act super shocked at the end of the video. Maybe I will just to prove a point.
But looking at this video I can’t find a view of his hands anywhere.
Little dude found a emulator and recorded his inputs. Prove me wrong and I’ll gladly eat my words. I don’t like pooping on someone’s parade so please prove me wrong. Until then I’m skeptical AF!!
This post has been captured from our very own retro gaming group over at FB
He won a tournament in real life on 12/2/2023 in Kansas City. He went 8-0 and won $500. That was less than 3 weeks before this amazing feat. All 8 of those games are on YouTube.
He was also racing another runner, Fractal, to get the first crash so it’s not like this was a complete surprise.
His reaction when he got the kill screens also appears genuine. While that doesn’t mean he couldn’t have cheated, sometimes you when you look back at say Billy Mitchell after setting a known cheated record and his lack of excitement makes it seem obvious.
He’s competed plenty of times, they wear gloves when preforming rolling to reduce friction allowing for faster movement, both he and fractal have gotten their game crashing runs. There’s
plenty of archived information and proof on youtube. I’ve been following speedrunning stuff and since the tetris techniques came up a few years back I watched that too. Believe me, he would be unverified by his own community faster than any outsider like us. He did this legit ๐
Also it’s not possible to crash the game via score etc on emulator. The reason tetris crashes is a hardware limitation because it can’t write bits fast enough. An emulated copy wouldn’t crash because your PC is processing the data the emulator is running. Unless the game is hard coded to crash, which tetris isn’t, it won’t.
He will be competing next to become the world champion, I guess we will see if he is that good ๐

Do it
Hello, could you check my post, thank you
So where did he come up with the kill screen if nobody has ever done it before?
If he did it once, he could do it again with people there as proof.
I actually always said this about Billy Mitchell. Instead of years of denying and lying and suing etc…. it would have been easier to simply beat the DK high score again today… get an exact machine, and do it with people watching.
Hell he doesn’t even have to beat his high score, just even get close to it and people could believe be did it decades ago.
He will have to do it live and in front of people at some point
I have no knowledge on the whole subject, but I saw a video on twitter about it and it explained a lot. Maybe this will be interesting for others to see what happened and an in depth analysis on it – https://twitter.com/BoredElonMusk/status/1742652465139589345?t=7WrFNwOCiQ6_CGiNcT9nXQ&s=19
OK, I just read an article, that explains what he did, which was trigger a glitch in the program software at level 157 that crashed the game.
The article goes onto say that if you clear level 255, the game resets to level 1.
Getting to level 157 is a great achievement,
but is crashing the game with 98 more levels actually beating it?
I’ve crashed a lot of games over the years ๐ค
๐คฃ
Iโm with you on this one because I know for a fact it has been done before. Can I prove it? Not really because it was in a gaming competition back in 1990 and I didnโt see many video cameras during that, at least not that I can particularly remember. However I donโt remember what exact Tetris it was, only that it was Tetris so this one could just as well be legit.
Tom Berger by that logic, I’ve beaten no mans sky (trillions of times bigger than every other game in history combined) at least 4000 times.
I call bullsh*t ๐
He did beat it the game glitched. There is no ending.
While skeptical myself, Rolling is a legit technique used in tournaments all over the world bro ๐
Someone’s jealous of a child lol
Someone does something cool and the literal first reaction for some is to immediately try and tear them down.
I dont like the whole thing being labeled as beating it. It’s being flipped not beaten. I’m old and that’s how I see it.
The FireBlaster could easily beat Tetris.
It was live streamed actually….
Iโll play devilโs advocate as well. Who cares? Some kid I donโt know says he beat a videogame. Now if he was playing against me for $10 and cheated them Iโd care ! Little cheat ! Die die die!
hence why I’m putting absolutely no stock into any of this. This can either be a prodigal son or a complete flop of a waste of time. Either way, I’m not really for caring.
“If he even enters ONE public tournament IN THE REAL WORLD and ranks well, I’ll eat crow and apologize to him.”
He’s already done that so eat crow and apologize or just admit that you’re 40 and jealous of a 13 year old.
Here’s a link to his public tournament in the real world: https://www.stwnewspress.com/news/boy-wonder-stillwater-teen-places-third-in-classic-tetris-world-championship/article_0a390482-83ef-11ee-9d4d-b777b200f759.html
LOL a bunch of Gen Xers not understanding how game play for records is done these days or how Tetris game play has evolved. Just go program your VCR to make sure you catch all the Matlock reruns, granddad. Youโre the new Boomers. Congrats.
Looks like a younger Peter Dinklage.
Alright ๐. Who cares ๐
Recordings don’t count
Do it live and in front of others
Certified hater !
He looks away from the screen while landing blocks perfectly. And we can’t see his hands.
It doesn’t matter if he did it or not. The video is terrible.
Hopefully this helps. It explains more in detail on how to play it, and the process of the higher levels. And the coding in Tetris.

There is video evidence..
The real question is, who cares?
It’s funny cause imagine being this butthurt over a 13 year old beating a 40 year old game. The level of pathetic is crazy.
So, I might have misspoke when challenging the Tetris kid’s record. I thought it was odd all these pros were bombing out at level 30 or so when he made it to level 155. Come to find out, the tournaments use a sped-up and hacked version of the ROM. So it’s quite likely that he did, in fact, make it to level 155. I can admit when I am wrong and apologize. Good job kiddo. You dropped this, king: ๐. I will leave this thread up, as it is the right thing to do. I do not care about the roast, I earned it. Later fk knuckles. ๐
