Personal Computer History:

1975 - Bill Gates and Paul Allen send a proposal to Micro Instrumentation and Telemetry Systems (MITS), expressing their development of a BASIC interpreter for the Intel 8080 CPU. They suggest a licensing agreement that would allow MITS to utilize the interpreter on the Altair 8800, in return for royalties.
1979 - Software Arts, the company behind the creation of VisiCalc, which was the first spreadsheet program, is formally incorporated.
1985 - Coleco Industries announces its decision to liquidate its remaining Adam computer inventory and exit the home computer market. This followed the Adam computer's lackluster performance and significant financial losses for the company.
2008 - Lenovo Group of China announces the launch of three new IdeaPad notebook computers for the U.S. market. The first model is available immediately for a price of $799, with the others set to be released in the subsequent weeks and months.
