This was a perfect arcade port given the limitations of the NES hardware at the time. The game was particularly special to me. I played often as a kid with my neighbors in the ’90s. We would crowd around the NES, each picking a turtle, and spend hours trying to save April and Splinter. It wasn’t just a game; it was a bonding experience, one I remember fondly to this day.

  1. I have the same awesome memories with kids in my neighborhood and it’s still one of my favorite beat em ups. BA BA UP DOWN BA LEFT RIGHT BA (select) Start!

  2. This games in my top 5 NES games

  3. This port was easier once you learn how to use the special move but nothing could be the graphics and sound of the arcade. It was like looking at the show

  4. When by a pizza u get that game for free back in the day

  5. I wish they had done this as a Genesis exclusive at first and then ported to the SNES as a launch title. The 8-bit hardware was too limiting to be faithful to the arcade experience. Konami proved they could do an arcade perfect port with Turtles in Time on the SNES.

That said, as an NES port it wasn’t bad. I still have my CIB copy and cut the coupon out of the instruction manual for a free personal Pizza Hut pizza when I was 13 shortly after getting my copy 😉

  6. This game holds a very special memory for me. I distinctly remember my mom buying this for me for Christmas, I secretly saw her at the store purchasing it but the time Christmas came along, I had forgotten about it. This game was great to play with my two older brothers. Lots of memories.

  7. One of the rare occasions when the NES port was just as good, if not better than the arcade. For the most part, the arcade version was like $30 G1 Optimus Prime, and the NES version was the Optimus Prime you got in a Happy Meal
