Hi everyone, wanted to not only share my setup but also wanted to (hopefully) get some folks opinions about a possible upgrade I’ve been thinking about.
Sorry in advance for the dense, long winded post…
Here’s my current setup:
My NES, SNES & N64 are RGB modified consoles and they’re routed through a Framemeister via SCART cables.
My PS2 is using component cables and also router through my Framemeister.
I have GameCube converted to digital with the EEON GCHD Mk II and an MClassic for additional cleanup plugged directly into the TV via HDMI. My original Xbox has a similar set up but with the XEDUSA+ converting it to digital and an MClassic also hooked up directly to the TV with HDMI.
The Framemeister has served me well but I was thinking about a potential upgrade and weighing the potential benefits. It’s RetroTink 5x Pro versus the Framemeister OR, with the release of the RetroTink 4K, RetroTink 5x Pro versus RetroTink 4K. I’ve been trying to find information on how the RetroTink 4K performs for the NES, SNES & N64 compared to the Framemeister and 5x Pro but the early reviews, and articles I’ve found about the RetroTink 4K focus on the PS2 era and beyond and not so much the more retro consoles.
I hold a Retro Game Night every Friday night with friends so I’m constantly playing my retro consoles and retro games. They get a lot of attention so I want to try and maximize quality as best as possible. HDMI MODS were just kind of hitting when I was setting up my game room and I know there are some benefits there but I’d like to continue to use my RGB modded consoles via SCART.
There seems to be a lack of information about the RetroTink 4K’s benefits with the more “classic” Nintendo consoles so if anyone has insight I’d love to hear your thoughts!
TLDR: Is the RetroTink 4K (or RetroTink 5x) going to make a noticeable difference compared to my Framemeister?
THANK YOU!!

Amazing set up!
I’m using rgb mod combo with rad2X and I’m very happy with that on a 65inch led tv. No latency, and one of the pest pictures I have seen so far.
Nice set up. I like your set up of your detof cabinet with the top loader end the snes jr.
I don’t think you’re going to see massive differences between the retrotink4k and your framemeister for rgb modded retro consoles. The biggest benefit would be the scanline options (If you even use them) and some other options. If you really just need a scaler for pre-2000s consoles without scanlines, stick with the frame meister. If you want a “do literally everything” scaler, get the retrotink4k
Absolutely love the set up, especially all the metroid stuff! Beautifully done.
Looks awesome!! I love the Samus helmet glowing. Killer setup. Thanks for sharing
I have no idea, but I really hope the way to get into this awesome room is via some sort of secret door or false wall. Pull a sconce, maybe the correct book on a bookshelf?
Dang! Where did you get that old school Mario Bros! Amzeballs
Awesome room, extremely well done! I love the cabinets where you have the cartridges and the glass display cases. One thing that stands out to me is the way you display the controllers on little stands in the cabinets to the left and right of the screens. What are those and where did you get them? Again, very cool!
I have nothing to add but gotdamn…this setup is so clean and organized. Are you finding the 3 movie theater seats are better than one big couch? Do you add extra chairs to the side if you have more than 2 guests?
Amazing room 😍 where did you find the rug? Thanks
Short answer, yes. The frame meister is a bit outdated. The retrotink has lower latency, no dropped signal between switching resolutions, a lot more options for optimized sampling, the CRT filter effects and HDR injection are amazing.
I only have the 5x, not the 4k, but I’m planning to upgrade to the 4k at some point.
