Personal Computer History:

1980 - Hewlett-Packard unveils the HP-85 microcomputer. It is equipped with 16 kB of RAM, a 32-character wide 5-inch diameter CRT display, a small built-in printer, a cassette tape recorder, and a keyboard. It retails for $3,250. Its development codename was Project Capricorn.
1984 - Franklin Computer reaches a settlement to pay Apple Computer $2.5 million in damages for infringing on the copyright of the operating system used in the Apple II. Franklin also agrees to stop selling their cloned operating system by April 1st.
1995 - At the Macworld Expo in San Francisco, Motorola introduces the Marco Wireless Communicator, based on the Apple Newton platform. It includes wireless communications at $50-130 monthly service costs, weighs 1.8 pounds, and is priced between $900-1400.
1996 - Intel announces the release of its 150 MHz and 166 MHz Pentium processors, with prices at $547 for the 150 MHz version and $749 for the 166 MHz version in quantities of 1000. These processors use 3.3 volts of power and are based on Intel's 0.35-micron BiCMOS manufacturing process. The project name during development was P54CS.
