Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Chapter 7 Walkthrough – Those Left Behind

Chapter 7 – Those Left Behind is the seventh chapter in the main story of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The chapter begins immediately after the events of Chapter 6 – Fool’s Paradise, where Yuffie becomes a member of your party. In this walkthrough, we will provide you with a detailed guide to help you navigate through Chapter 7, including important information, tips, and strategies to ensure you don’t miss a thing.

Now that Yuffie has joined your party, your next objective is to head towards Mt. Corel, where the mysterious hooded figures were last seen. However, before departing from Costa del Sol, it’s advisable to visit the Community Noticeboard and accept a few Side Quests. These quests will help you gain experience and level up, better preparing you for the challenges ahead. One quest we highly recommend is The Saga of the Seaside Inn, as you can complete some of its objectives while traveling to Mt. Corel, making it an efficient use of your time.

Once you’re ready to continue your journey, exit Costa del Sol by heading south to the Chocobo ranch, then proceed westward. You’ll traverse picturesque ocean beaches as you make your way to Mt. Corel. Upon arrival, you’ll discover that the cable cars are not operational, forcing your team to ascend the mountain on foot. Fortunately, there is only one path to follow, making navigation straightforward. As you climb, take the opportunity to enjoy Yuffie’s witty dialogue and gather any resources you come across, as they may prove useful later on.

As you reach the Rest Stop, some of your teammates decide to forge ahead, leaving Cloud, Aerith, and Red XIII to continue at their own pace. Before proceeding, be sure to acquire the Wizard’s Rod from the purple chest on the left side of the area. Additionally, take a moment to purchase any necessary items that may aid you in the challenges to come.

The mountain ascent is not only filled with enemies but also abundant in resources. It’s highly recommended to explore off the main path while making your way up, as this will allow you to gather valuable materials for the Item Transmuter. Keep an eye out for graffiti left by Yuffie on some of the cliffs, as these markings will guide you in the right direction. Eventually, you’ll encounter a seeming dead end, but as Yuffie’s painting suggests, search for yellow ledges that you can climb to continue your progress.

As you progress further, you’ll notice a helicopter flying overhead, and shortly after, you’ll come across a Rest Stop and Shops on your right. Take advantage of this opportunity to replenish your supplies and rest, as a boss fight awaits you after a brief encounter with Elena and Rude. The Custom Valkyrie, your upcoming adversary, is particularly vulnerable to Fire and Wind elements. Once your ATB meters are charged, prioritize casting spells and using damage-dealing abilities that exploit these weaknesses. Since the boss hovers above the ground, finding the right moment to engage in close-quarters combat can be challenging, so choose your openings wisely. During the boss’s Cooling Protocol phase, it will be completely exposed to attacks, so make sure to deplete your entire ATB gauge during this window of opportunity.

To effectively increase the stagger meter, Red XIII’s basic attacks prove to be the most efficient. When the boss’s health drops to around half, it will deploy a giant laser cannon that targets and fires at the character you’re currently controlling. In this situation, quickly maneuver behind the boss to avoid taking damage. Keep focusing on filling the stagger meter, and with a consistent approach, you should be able to defeat the boss without too much difficulty.

Following the cutscene, the game shifts its focus to Zack, a character we haven’t encountered since the beginning of the game. As you take control of Zack, you’ll hear a knock at the door. Answer it to find Aerith’s mother standing outside. Accompany her upstairs to check on the well-being of both Aerith and Cloud. However, this brief interlude is all you’ll experience as Zack, because as they transport the two protagonists back to their home, the scene abruptly transitions to Cloud and Aerith, who find themselves conscious in an entirely different location.

Once you regain control, make your way to the gate and hold the lever down to open it. Continue your ascent towards Mt. Nibel, where you’ll eventually reunite with the rest of your party. Now that you have access to all the characters again, take a moment to rearrange your party to match your preferred setup from before, then proceed up to Mt. Nibel. Before long, you’ll arrive at the Corel Mako Reactor, with Yuffie and Barret taking the lead as you enter the facility.

A lengthy elevator ride will transport you down to the Coal Mines, where you’ll discover that a bridge is obstructing both your path and that of the Robed Men. Barret highlights the control room as your next primary objective, which becomes apparent after a disconcerting cutscene involving Cloud. At this point, you’ll assume control of Yuffie, who possesses the ability to throw her Shuriken at boxes and other objects in the environment. To progress, you’ll need to utilize this skill to sever the wire adjacent to the locked door, granting you access to the interior of the Preparation Plant.

Your current goal is to activate the conveyor. Locate the Grappling Hook on the nearby table and use it to traverse the gap to your left, enabling you to interact with the lever. Don’t forget to collect the Twin Viper from the purple chest before swinging back across and stepping onto the conveyor.

As you reach the next floor, your objective is to restore power to an elevator. Before proceeding, consider climbing the wooden structure outside to acquire some additional items. Once you’re ready, return inside and locate the Grappling Hook point to the left of the elevator. Use it to swing across to the nearby island. From there, turn around and throw your Shuriken at the next pylon in the distance, causing it to drop and providing another point for you to grapple onto. Upon reaching the platform with the yellow chest, turn around once more to spot a set of yellow ledges that you can grapple to and use to climb higher. At the top, engage and defeat the enemy, then interact with the console to activate the elevator, allowing Barret and Tifa to reunite with you.

After ascending the staircase and emerging into the open area, you’ll notice your objective located on your left. However, before proceeding, take a moment to climb the yellow ledges directly ahead of you. From there, throw your Shuriken at the wire holding the bucket on the opposite side. This action will reveal a substantial number of supply boxes that you should destroy to collect valuable items. Once you’ve gathered all the loot, proceed by using the nearby zipline.

On the other side of the zipline, make your way through the cave until you come across a Rest Stop and Shops. Take advantage of this opportunity to rest and replenish your supplies. After doing so, defeat the Cockatrice awaiting you up ahead, then utilize the yellow ledges to reach the platform above. Throw your Shuriken at the wire opposite your position to drop a ladder that Yuffie can access. A series of grappling hook points will then allow her to reach a chest containing the Illusionist’s Armband. To advance further, locate the pole in the center of the area and grab onto it, using it to descend. Beyond the two Cockatrices, you’ll find an outdoor area housing a purple chest with the Barrage Blaster inside. To the left, back inside, there will be a point where Yuffie can swing across and activate the next conveyor by pulling a lever. If needed, you can easily return by jumping into the water below. Now, ride the conveyor all the way to the top, make use of the Rest Stop, and then switch to the other conveyor to continue your upward journey.

Upon reaching the top, throw your Shuriken at the control panel situated above to lower a pylon that Yuffie can grapple onto. Continue along the path until you reach a point where you need to drop down onto another wooden platform. From there, aim your Shuriken at a second control panel to activate it. This action will trigger a pylon that transports you through a challenging box-filled obstacle course before depositing you onto a turning circle. To progress, use your momentum to propel yourself forward and kick the switch to turn it on. This will activate another pylon that comes to your rescue. Lastly, defeat the Bomb enemy, take a moment to rest at the Rest Stop, and then interact with the nearby console. Doing so will bring Tifa and Barret up to join you at your current level.

To proceed, locate the small red door in the corner that leads back outside. Upon exiting, you’ll be confronted by a massive bird and a nest of baby Chocobos. Tifa expresses her desire to help, which means you’ll need to engage and defeat the Gigatrice. A useful strategy is to cast Fire on the boss, as this will instantly pressure it and cause it to fall to the ground, providing an opportunity for Tifa to land some easy hits and fully stagger the enemy. When the Gigatrice’s health drops to around half, it will begin spawning cyclones throughout the arena, which you should make an effort to avoid. Additionally, Tifa’s Limit Break is powerful enough to pressure the boss and bring it down once more.

After successfully defeating the Gigatrice, interact with the console located beneath the nest to finally lower the bridge you’ve been working towards. At this point, the perspective will shift back to Cloud, Aerith, and Red XIII, who must choose a path for the mine cart that the rest of the team will use. Before continuing along the track, take a moment to review and adjust your Materia slots as needed.

As you make your way down the track, you’ll encounter levers on the side that allow you to determine the path the mine cart will take. Barret and Yuffie will express their preferences for certain routes, but ultimately, the choice is yours and doesn’t significantly impact the outcome. Upon reaching the end of the track, interact with the terminal to summon Yuffie, at which point the perspective will switch back to the other half of the team, allowing you to ride the mine cart down to reunite with the others. During the descent, you can take advantage of Barret’s gun and Yuffie’s Shuriken to destroy boxes along the way, collecting valuable items in the process. Once the mine cart reaches the end of the track, the entire party will be reunited, ready to face the challenges ahead together.

Before proceeding, take a moment to review and adjust your Materia slots to ensure your party is well-prepared for the challenges ahead. Once you’re ready, cross the bridge to discover North Corel, a settlement that Barret once called home. As you explore the town, make your way up the mountain, enduring the verbal and physical attacks directed at Barret by the disgruntled villagers. During your ascent, Tifa will draw your attention to a building she wishes to enter to meet with someone. Follow her inside to encounter Doctor Sheiran and experience a disconcerting hallucination of Sephiroth.

After this unsettling encounter, you have the option to either continue up the mountain and reach the Gold Saucer or linger in North Corel for a while to complete a Side Quest titled “Of Robed Men and Ransoms.” When you’re prepared to move on, make your way to the Corel Ropeway. As you do so, a cutscene will play, shedding light on the reasons behind Barret’s mistreatment by the townspeople, bringing Chapter 7 to an emotional and revealing close. It’s been quite an extensive and eventful chapter, hasn’t it?
