There are quite a few games out there that were awesome growing up that you have not played in years I am sure. There are thousands of classics, and many have slipped your mind. Here are some titles that you have forgot about. 5. Kid Icarus for the NES. (Nintendo Entertainment System) Everyone has fond memories of timing a jump wrong and falling to your death, Fudge, it was tough after the first 10 minutes but oh so rewarding. First off let, for those of you poor saps who have yet to play this game, it is a really good game and worth checking out. The game stars a greek Icarus looking character called Pit. For those you who have never read any Greek mythology, Icarus is the fella that flew to close to the sun one day with mere wax wings, and his wings melted and he plummeted many many feet to his demise . FYI, the game does in fact feature the wax wings. 4. Marble Madness (Arcade) How many quarters did this game eat up? Yeah it was not very pretty, but for its time... 1984, it sure was intuitive and fun. I can recall hounding my mother for quarters at the bowling alley over and over again to feed this monster. Marble Madness is an isometric platformer where you move an onscreen marble from a third-person perspective. It is quite simple, move the ball, avoid obstacles and traps, stay on the course and finish with in the time limit. Sounds easy right? Sure it is, the first level that is. The game gets progressively harder until you are pulling your hair out of your head or running to the change machine for more quarters. The only game that ate up more of my pocket change was the Arcade version of X-men. You should slap yourself right now for forgetting about such an awesome game, and reward yourself by re-living all of the glory by giving it another round, after all that is the main reason why so many of us enjoy console emulation. 3. Hydro Thunder In terms of retro, it is still newer but it was the first real good boat racer that I enjoyed playing. The arcade version and then its Dreamcast counterpart. Who doesn't like racing boats anyway. Bet you forgot about this one as well. It was a very, very fluid racer. No pun intended. The jumps in the game were insane, and the maps were a lot of fun, some pretty hard to boot. For its time the graphics were pretty impressive. The arcade model boasted dual boat racing for some intense game play with a friend. After the first few courses they became almost impossible to beat with out some repetitive practice. A river running through the mouth of a volcano, who makes this stuff up. Check this one out if you missed it. I have mentioned this one around some friends and family and they have never heard of it, so maybe you might find some fun out of this one. 2. Disney's Aladdin (SNES/Genesis) This has to be the best Disney game I have played in the mid 90's. Not only are the games graphics utterly stunning for its time, but Aladdin's game play and controls are top notch. The game is loosely based on the movie's storyline, with Aladdin's adventures taking him through a market place at first, the Cave of Wonders, a pyramid, and if you can make it that far, Jafar's Palace. More so in the "Genie" levels, the visuals are a delight to the eye and very colorful. Excellent music scores play throughout the levels, and you'll instantaneously recognize it if you've seen the film. All in all the title was great fun, and I do not think it has been re-hashed since its debut. With that said, there is a good chance you have forgotten all about this diamond in the rough. 1. Alien VS. Predator (Atari Jaguar) The Jaguar was horrible, no one owned the system, and no one played its games, but the people who created Alien VS. Predator didnt mess around. The versatility, graphics and overall game play for a system that was running Wolfenstien 3D side by side really showed what the Jaguar was capable of though not tapped into. You get the option to play as either a Predator, an Alien, or finally Marine. Each counterpart having a variety of different weapons and different objectives during the play of the game. The Predator was a rather interesting character to play because of the weapon types and skill sets. Check out gameplay footage on youtube if you will, just to see how amazing this title really was. Did you own a Jaguar? No you didnt! Do you remember seeing advertisements for this game? Sure you do! That means you forgot about this game a long long time ago, and owe it to yourself to find a way to play it. All of the titles lsited here can be emulated and played in full runs, and if you are reading this, you are on a emulation related web site. So what the hell are you waiting for? Get lost.
