Anyone collect LRG games? one summer approximately 5 years ago I went on a junkie binge and put together a pretty impressive collection of retro games through garage sales and Facebook marketplace.

I don’t know what came over me. I was always an avid video game fan from the ’80s to present. And I love collecting things. I mean I got a crazy comic book and baseball card collection.

But for some reason whenever my systems reached the end of the life span I just gave them away to cousins and Friends. I just gave away so many amazing video game collections over the years. I had a Panasonic 3d0 with lucine’s quest and about 10 other games that are worth a fortunes right now for example. Gone. I just gave them all the way over the years.l whenever I got my hands on the next system.

So I started buying back at deep discounts whenever I could find a good deals. Except for one area. I bought into the LRG limited run games craze. I ended up getting the first 50 LRG PS4 games during my binge. Before backing off.

How do you guys feel about lrg? You think I wasted my time investing? Does anybody else collect these games?

  1. Waiting for my order to come. That was 6 months ago.

  2. I’ve enjoyed them. Their quality went down IMO once they started partnering with Best Buy and Amazon, but realistically a lot of these titles wouldn’t have ever been considered physically if it weren’t for them. We’ve also seen other groups like Special Reserve Games, Super Rare Games, etc. come from this model, so I see it as a win overall.

  3. I have a few. some i opened and others stayed sealed

  4. I got sick of waiting a year to get my orders, so I stopped buying from them. I like my physical games, but when I see a game on sale digitally for $5 after I paid $30 for it and still don’t have it yet, it doesn’t make me want to buy more.

  5. I buy a lot of stuff from Limited Run, but it is for the intention of playing the games. Probably like everyone else here, I love physical media and that’s what they do, make physical versions of games that would otherwise be trapped in a digital format. I use to despise them because of the way everything was so hard to get, titles would sell out in seconds and lots of people that genuinely wanted to play those games were just out of luck. The way they handle things now with open preorders is perfect. People tend to love or hate the company, they’ve had some missteps, but I definitely appreciate what they do. I do think a lot of their games will be worth quite a bit in the years to come, because they are produced in very limited numbers, but I’m buying them to keep and play after these companies no longer offer the option of a digital download.

  6. The lrg selection has been super lame as of late. Haven’t gotten a single thing in quite some time

  7. I’m definitely not buying all of them, but i snag various shmups or retro physical stuff through them or other similar companies. Strictly limited, super rare, special reserve, retro-bit, etc.

Just have to accept it’ll take a long time.

  8. I liked them early on but after a while their customer service got terrible. I buy lrg in the wild but I’ll never order from them again. On top of waiting over a year for items, my last 3 orders from them all arrived heavily damaged. I normally don’t take unbox videos but with what I saw on YT about their decline I didn’t want to take a chance. The basically told me I fabricated the videos no refund no replacement. My total orders were close to $300, to them not much but to me that’s a lot to lose out on. I’m also sure I’m blacklisted now because I issued chargebacks through my credit after talking with them, showing email responses and my videos of damaged goods. These weren’t just minor cracks in cases they were crushed/destroyed cases so they were like that before they went into packaging with bubble wrap. I got my money back after a month (2 years ago now) I can’t say many people have had my experience but more than a few have. Hopefully they fixed their issues but I get my games elsewhere now.

  9. I have a ton of these I picked up locally if anyone is after any lol I also have a ton of the cards.

  10. I collected when they first came out then they just stopped caring about the game itself and focused on the collectors edition stuff. Which became bloated and the quality just degraded and lead times ballooned I waited a YEAR for a vinyl. What finally did it for me was the Doom collection for the Switch where they had a DRM version on the cart and then just didn’t let people know that until people started complaining. It was on YOU to make sure you paid attention to their blog to request a replacement. Then Scott Pilgrim didn’t have the DLC included.

  11. Depends on the game. Last one I got was the Jurassic park collection. You’re wrong to give away your systems in my opinion.

  12. I bought into the LRG hype for a bit. Have a few of the desirable games like Celeste, Curse of the Moon, River City Girls. And like a lot of you all got fed up with their long order times and lack of response from customer service. My longest order was 23 months. I usually see them at game conventions near me so I don’t plan on ordering anymore. Just picking up the titles I want from them directly.

  13. I have a few, but i haven’t seen any i wanted in a while.

  14. I have a complete set of every LRG switch release, but I also collect a lot of switch games in general.

  15. Ive thought about it, but have decided to pass.

I got into collecting games, systems and accessories around 2006. I was picking up stuff for pennies on the dollar. Due to moving, I sold it all before prices skyrocketed.

Now I just buy retro games that I love. No more need to own an entire library for specific systems.

I enjoy seeing others collections more than trying to build my own.
I have no desire to own games just because others like them or their value at the moment.

  16. I think they flood the market with a manufactured almost monopolistic limited supply that is engineered to never meet the demand immediately creating an artificial shortage and skyrocketing the value of said product prematurely and unjustly. I think it’s cool to get a physical copy of a game you love but the fact that they are extremely limited edition by design is just bad for everyone except scalpers.

  17. I ordered their Blade Runner PS4 package and it was delayed for more than a year. I stopped asking about shipping timeframes because they never replied to my emails. I got the game and my extras and they threw in 3 coupons which was nice, but it was a bit frustrating to wait that long.

  18. I no longer purchase games from them since I have several that have never been shipped.

  19. Got blaster master zero 3 and the castlevania collection from them

  20. 🤔🤔 I mean you can’t say hey I sold all my stuff I miss it.
Oh let me buy back some of it. Hey I wonder what it’s worth.

Hey guys what do you think of this company. I wanna sell it all maybe. TF is wrong with you ? 😆

No man thats such an open ended question. Like what do you mean ?

    Cuz
    1) depends on what you have
    2) are you asking about the ethics of the company ?
    3) I mean google isn’t hard to use to find pricing. If the numbers for the item you purchased goes UP that means profit. If it’s less you lost money.

  21. So I purchased 2 CE from them – blasphemous (for the little sword and Streets of rage 4 for the metal cartridge and the roasted chicken stress ball. I like those things… I could take or leave the rest of it.

  22. The only piece I have from them. I kept it sealed. 🤘

  23. I bought a few over the years hoping they would get big enough to produce more physical games upon pre-order requests instead of actually limiting the amount to keep it “limited”.

  24. I mainly pick up NES releases or anything I think is interesting when I visit their retail location.
