DOSBox-X Git (2026/03/01) has been compiled as an updated version of DOSBox, which emulates an Intel x86 PC to run old MS-DOS games on modern systems. The latest changelog includes multiple fixes related to Metal support, such as corrections in palette settings, GUI menu issues, and build errors. Experimental Metal output support has been added for macOS using SDL2. Additionally, improvements include adjustments for 8bpp palette settings, aspect ratio management, and bug report template updates. The DOSBox software emulates an Intel x86 PC, providing audio, graphics, mouse, joystick, and modem functionalities needed to run many classic MS-DOS games that cannot operate on modern PCs and OSs, including Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, and FreeBSD.
