DOSBox-X Git (2025/12/23) is a compiled version of DOSBox, a software that emulates an Intel x86 PC to run vintage MS-DOS games on modern operating systems like Windows and Linux. The latest changelog highlights improvements in rendering on demand and adjustments that enhance frame rates for “Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventures” and “Jill of the Jungle.” While the frame rate is mostly stable, minor issues persist. Additional changes also address EGA AC palette animation issues in “Commander Keen” and “Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventures.” Download options are available for this version.

DOSBox-X Git (2025/12/23) has been compiled. DOSBox-x is a variant of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC with essential components like sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, and modem, enabling the execution of numerous classic MS-DOS games that can’t run on contemporary PCs and operating systems such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
* Revamped render on demand + monitoring changes to address frame rate problems in Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventures and Jill of the Jungle. Well, 99% of the time the frame rate is accurate, though there are occasional hiccups. It’s significantly improved now
* What impacts Cosmo also affects Jill of the Jungle
* Render on demand + wait for changes: Allow modifications to the Attribute Controller to also prompt a redraw. This resolves EGA AC palette animation issues in Commander Keen titles and Cosmo’s Cosmic Adventures, although I still need to identify what’s causing the irregular frame rate in Cosmo related to Wait For Changes
