Simple Launcher v5.1.0 is now available, enhancing retro gaming experiences with new features. It introduces on-the-fly conversion of CHD files to ISO for Xemu and Xenia emulators, enabling users to store Xbox and Xbox 360 ISOs as CHD. The update includes tools like “BatchConvertToXiso” and “BatchConvertToCHD,” which optimize file sizes, achieving up to 30% reduction. Additionally, it implements a launch handler for Ootake and SameBoy emulators to manage compressed files and offers CHD to CUE/BIN conversion for Mednafen and 4DO. MAME configurations are improved for automatic ROM path injection, enhancing overall game detection.

Simple Launcher v5.1.0 has been released. Simple Launcher serves as an emulator frontend, making it easy to enjoy retro games.
Simple Launcher Changelog:
Implemented a feature to convert CHD files to ISO in real-time for the “Xemu” and “Xenia” emulators, as both do not support CHD files inherently.
This enables users to keep their Xbox and Xbox 360 ISOs in CHD format and convert them automatically to ISO when starting games.
‘Simple Launcher’ also includes a tool called “BatchConvertToXiso” that can convert original REDUMP Xbox ISOs into optimized XISO files suitable for emulators. This tool removes unnecessary files and optimizes the XISO for better performance.
‘Simple Launcher’ includes another tool named “BatchConvertToCHD” that can change ISO files to CHD format.
By using both tools, users can significantly reduce the size of their Xbox and Xbox 360 game libraries. In my tests, I achieved around a 30% size reduction on optimized XISO files.
‘Simple Launcher’ will seamlessly convert files back to ISO format as games are launched.
A launch handler has been created for the Ootake emulator (PC Engine) and SameBoy (Game Boy), forcing the extraction of compressed files since both emulators do not inherently support them. This will help avoid launch failures.
Logic has been added to convert CHD files to CUE/BIN in real-time for the Mednafen and 4DO emulators, preventing launch issues since they also do not support CHD files natively.
Fixed the MAME emulator handler to correctly inject ROM paths into the emulator’s configuration file.
Users no longer need to specify the ‘-rompath’ parameter for MAME, as the new logic automatically injects the ROM paths from the ‘System Folder.’ This will help prevent launch issues.
Enhanced logic for generating aliases for Microsoft Windows games, improving game detection capabilities.
