Simple Launcher v5.1.0 has been released, enhancing retro gaming with new features. It now supports on-the-fly conversion of CHD files to ISO for the Xemu and Xenia emulators, allowing users to store Xbox and Xbox 360 ISOs in CHD format. The launcher includes tools like “BatchConvertToXiso” for optimizing original Xbox ISOs to XISO files, achieving around 30% size reduction, and “BatchConvertToCHD” for ISO to CHD conversion. Additional updates include a launch handler for Ootake and SameBoy to resolve compressed file issues and improvements for MAME’s ROM path configuration and Windows game alias generation.

Simple Launcher v5.1.0 has been launched. This emulator frontend simplifies the process of playing retro games.
Changelog for Simple Launcher:
Introduced a feature to convert CHD files to ISO on demand for the “Xemu” and “Xenia” emulators, as they lack native support for CHD files.
This enables users to retain their Xbox and Xbox 360 ISOs in CHD format and convert them back to ISO automatically when starting games.
‘Simple Launcher’ comes with a tool named “BatchConvertToXiso,” which can transform original REDUMP Xbox ISOs into optimized XISO files ready for emulators. This utility streamlines the files and enhances the XISO for use with emulators.
‘Simple Launcher’ further includes a tool called “BatchConvertToCHD” for converting ISO files into CHD format.
Employing both tools, you can considerably minimize the size of your Xbox and Xbox 360 games collection. In my experience, I achieved around a 30% reduction compared to the optimized XISO files.
‘Simple Launcher’ will revert files back to ISO format seamlessly during game launches.
Developed a launch handler for the Ootake emulator, a PC Engine emulator, as well as for SameBoy, a Game Boy emulator.
This feature ensures the extraction of compressed files, preventing launch issues since neither emulator supports compressed files by default.
Implemented logic to convert CHD files to CUE/BIN on the fly for both the Mednafen emulator and the 4DO emulator.
This will avoid launch failures as these emulators do not natively accommodate CHD files.
Corrected the MAME emulator handler to accurately include ROM paths in the emulator’s configuration file.
You will no longer need to specify the ‘-rompath’ parameter for MAME, as the updated logic automatically includes ROM paths from the ‘System Folder’ into MAME’s settings. This will prevent launch failures.
Enhanced the logic for generating aliases for Microsoft Windows games, improving game detection accuracy.
