Eden Version 0.1.0

Eden v0.1.0, the premier open-source Nintendo Switch emulator, has been released, originating from Yuzu and developed by Camille LaVey and the Eden team. This version enhances performance through reduced memory synchronization and improved DMA operations, impacting mainly desktop users. Key updates include a news page, faster shader compilation, better JIT performance, and fixes for various graphics and audio issues in games like Metroid Prime 4 and Luigi’s Mansion 3. Android-specific optimizations were added, including UI fixes and options to customize emulation settings. The release aims to improve compatibility and overall performance across all platforms.

Eden v0.1.0 has been released. Eden is the leading open-source Nintendo Switch emulator, derived from the Yuzu emulator, initiated by former Citron developer Camille LaVey and the Eden team. Developed in C++ with an emphasis on portability, we provide regular builds for Windows, Linux, and Android.

Eden Changelog:
Universal
Dramatically decreased memory synchronization and DMA operation overhead.
When Sync Memory Operations are enabled, users may experience improved performance based on their specific setups.
Games dependent on DMA operations benefit from notable performance enhancements.
Primarily impacts desktop platforms, but Android may also see performance improvements.
Introduced a News page to display announcements for our releases.
Enhanced shader compilation speed for lower-end systems.
Resolved performance issues in Luigi’s Mansion 3.
It was observed that Fast GPU Time set to 128 was causing a considerable performance decline in many games; therefore, this option has been discontinued, leaving only 256 and 512 available.
Updated the presentation of certain settings.
Several options with a toggle are now presented with explicit “Off” or “Normal” settings.
ExtendedDynamicState is now a dropdown list across all platforms, instead of a slider.
Web username and token are now pre-filled with default values.
Optimized dummy thread storage, reducing CPU usage and slightly improving 1/0.1% lows.
Implemented GetSystemInfo for behavior closer to a real Switch, allowing some mods that were nonfunctional on Yuzu-based emulators to work correctly.
Added stubs for firmware 21.1.0, which may enhance performance for newer games that require version 21+.
Boosted JIT performance on devices with increased memory.
Introduced GPU-accelerated texture unswizzling features, particularly improving graphical anomalies in Metroid Prime 4.
Enabled skipping player selection in specific games that enforce a different user.
This notably makes certain Alien Hominid and Jackbox game packs playable without needing multiple users.
Included an option to eliminate bloom and blur effects from specific titles, notably impacting Burnout and chibi-style Zelda games.
Implemented sorting for game titles.
Replaced the default gray profile picture with the Eden logo.
Reduced core memory usage.
Fixed issues in Jackbox and other games necessitating an internet connection.
Resolved memory allocation and graphical bugs in Marvel: Cosmic Invasion.
Addressed audio problems in Metroid Prime 4, including the audio mute not fully silencing sounds.
Fixed crashes in Ender Magnolia on older CPUs.
Corrected microphone input issues.
Resolved problems in the + Options menu on Qlaunch.
Fixed an intermittent save issue with Absolum in Cyrillic languages.
Renderer
Reworked ExtendedDynamicState and other extensions entirely.
If games previously encountered issues with ExtendedDynamicState or similar settings, they may function correctly now.
Improved flickering in several problematic titles.
Addressed graphics-related performance concerns in Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition and Pokemon Scarlet/Violet.
Resolved issues on older CPUs lacking certain vectorization instructions.
Optimized resource utilization on Android GPUs.
Improved cache efficiency and reduced CPU load during GPU processing, thereby accelerating the stabilization of graphical performance.
Enhanced rendering on stock Qualcomm drivers, with fixes for bugs in Link’s Awakening, Pokemon Scarlet/Violet, and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
This applies to both Android and Windows on ARM laptops.
Fixed flickering and irregular texture artifacts at 1x resolution, particularly benefiting games like Luigi’s Mansion 3.
Resolved random explosion bugs in MK8DX and others that would result in chaotic color displays or flickering.
Desktop
Reorganized the Graphics submenu.
You can now change the save data location.
The Discord RPC implementation now displays the current game status instead of just “Eden.”
Fixed an issue preventing more than four controllers from connecting simultaneously.
Android
Added a dedicated page for modifying some Turnip driver settings, specifically for open-source Adreno drivers.
Corrected UI bugs within the game list.
Rotation changes could lead to temporary misalignments.
Gamepad navigation was occasionally unresponsive.
Fixed a crash caused by overlay auto-hide.
Resolved scenarios where the overlay might temporarily disable touchscreen functionality.
Ported custom path settings from desktop.
Introduced a Quick Settings menu for users during emulation.
Added an option to deactivate automatic BCn driver patching for Adreno, as this operation can lead to crashes on very old systems.
Rectified various crashing issues affecting Turnip that don’t impact standard Adreno drivers.
Internal
Reduced some log verbosity.
YUZU_USE_BUNDLED_QT has been revised, and the bundled Qt is now entirely static for Windows and MacOS.
Use on Linux outside of CI is discouraged, and this bundled Qt does not support WebEngine.
For packagers: YUZU_ENABLE_LTO is now renamed to ENABLE_LTO, and YUZU_USE_FASTER_LD has been changed to USE_FASTER_LINKER.
