Project64 Git (2026/01/25) is a proprietary Nintendo 64 emulator for Windows that utilizes a plug-in system for third-party development. It enables users to play Nintendo 64 games by reading ROM images from cartridges or homebrew creations. Initially created by Jabo and zilmar as a programming challenge, Project64 is now open source. Recent updates include improvements to RSP mappings and updates to assembly code. The software is available for download in x64 format, and there’s a version for Android as well.

It utilizes a plug-in architecture that enables third-party developers to create their own specific components. Project64 allows users to play Nintendo 64 games on their computers by accessing ROM images, which can be extracted from the read-only memory of a Nintendo 64 cartridge or generated directly on the computer as homebrew. Originally, Project64 was initiated by Jabo and zilmar to explore their capability in programming a Nintendo 64 emulator. It is now open source.
