At its core, this is an edition of Parasite Eve II rather than a separate follow-up or remix. Once you get past the oversized packaging, the PlayStation game is the main event, so the decision comes down to whether you want that game accompanied by collector extras instead of simply owning the software.

The first-hour pull of this release is physical rather than mechanical. Opening a bigger Square Millennium Collection box, then finding the game alongside character-themed items, gives the purchase a sense of occasion that a normal case cannot match. It is a small pleasure, but it is exactly why special editions exist.

There is a practical dividing line here. If you mainly want to put the disc in a PlayStation and play, the extras will not be the reason to seek this version out. If you enjoy game packaging as part of the hobby, the collection has a more tangible point: it turns Parasite Eve II into a display piece.

Graphics

The physical artwork is centered on Aya Brea: the perfume bottle is shaped after her, and the included card features actress Yumiko Shaku portraying her. Those two items give the box a character-focused look rather than the generic feel of a bonus-disc compilation.

Story

Aya Brea is clearly the thread tying this collection together. The shaped perfume bottle and Shaku card do more than pad out the box; both keep the attention on the game’s lead character.

The Shaku card is the more distinctive extra. A photo-card interpretation of Aya gives the collection a different flavor from another piece of printed game art, and it makes the edition feel specifically curated around her rather than around Square branding alone.

That focus works best when Aya already means something to you. The extras are not broad memorabilia for every PlayStation collector; they are deliberate character goods, which makes the package more personal for a Parasite Eve II fan and less essential for anyone else.

Overall Experience

This is a worthwhile special edition because its contents have a coherent theme. The game, Aya-shaped perfume bottle, and Aya portrait card all point in the same direction, so the larger box feels like a proper collector package rather than a disc with loose trinkets.

The perfume bottle is the deciding extra. It is unusual, specific, and much more memorable than another leaflet or promotional insert. The card is a welcome companion piece, especially for collectors interested in Yumiko Shaku’s portrayal of Aya.

Buy it for the physical package, not because it changes the experience of Parasite Eve II. For a fan who likes Square’s turn-of-the-millennium collectible releases, it has real charm; for everyone else, its value rests almost entirely on how much you want Aya Brea memorabilia on the shelf.
