Gameplay
The first few races ask a simple question: which broom feels right under you? With six brooms that each have their own flight behavior, this is not merely a character-select screen with different decorations. Trying a few combinations before committing to trophy races gives the game more personality than its small track count initially suggests.
Racing from a behind-the-rider viewpoint suits the broomstick theme nicely. You are steering through twelve courses across Neustadt, Schloss Klunkerburg, and Blocksberg, while potions can swing a tight contest in your favor or help you out of trouble. Magical fog is the clearest nuisance: when visibility goes away, staying composed matters more than simply charging ahead.
The strongest reason to keep playing is the golden-broom hunt. Hidden brooms in every world unlock further tracks, so exploring and replaying are tied directly to opening the game up. That said, twelve courses is still a limited package, and the modes—Quick Race, Trophy Race, and Time Trial—rework that same core rather than radically changing it. The multiplayer option is where the potion chaos and different broom handling have the best chance to create repeat sessions.
Graphics
The game keeps the camera behind your broom, placing the rider and course directly in front of you as you race through Neustadt, Schloss Klunkerburg, and Blocksberg. Magical fog has a practical on-screen effect too, obscuring the route at exactly the moment you want a clear look ahead.
Story
This is a licensed Bibi Blocksberg game built for the character’s 30th anniversary, but racing is the focus rather than a big story campaign. You can race as Bibi herself or choose from the other available characters; the useful question is which racer and broom combination you enjoy, not what narrative branch you might uncover.
That light touch is appropriate for a family racer. The named locations give the cup races a familiar Bibi Blocksberg backdrop, while the golden-broom unlocks provide a gentle reason to continue from one world to the next.
If you want more Bibi away from the race course, Bibi Blocksberg: Im Bann der Hexenkugel is another game in the series. Here, the license works best as a friendly coat of paint on an accessible broom-racing loop.
Overall Experience
Das große Hexenbesen-Rennen! knows its audience. It is approachable, immediately understandable, and better suited to a shared afternoon than to someone demanding a deep racing simulation. The brooms, potions, and unlockable tracks give it enough variety to avoid feeling entirely one-note.
Its frustrations come from that same compact design. Once you have worked through the three worlds and twelve tracks, there is only so far the existing race modes can stretch the experience. Time Trial is useful if you enjoy shaving down a run, while multiplayer is the better answer if you want the game to remain lively after the unlocks are found.
Give it a chance if Bibi Blocksberg means something in your household, or if you want a simple fantasy racer where the handling choice actually matters and a well-timed potion can rescue a race. Everyone else may find it slight, but it delivers a pleasant, focused bit of broomstick competition rather than pretending to be more than that.
