Iman Vellani Wants Ms. Marvel to Become Part of the MCU’s X-Men

Iman Vellani, the star who brought Ms. Marvel to life in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has recently shared her aspirations for her character to join the ranks of the X-Men. The actress, celebrated for her role as Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel, spoke about her character’s future and her own wishes for the next big leap in the MCU.

Vellani’s Ms. Marvel first appeared in the Disney Plus Hotstar series and later made a significant impact on the big screen with The Marvels. As the MCU continues to evolve, fans have been speculating about Ms. Marvel’s place in the franchise’s future. In this context, Vellani expressed a bold desire in an interview with ComicBook.com, saying, “On the big screen? X-Men. I don’t think that’s a bad answer. I think the X-Men is so cool, and it really just marks her as a legitimate mutant and all the naysayers can no longer say nay.”

The ending of the 2023 film ‘The Marvels’ positions Kamala Khan as the founder of the MCU’s Young Avengers team. This placement hints at the character’s integral role in the ensemble of young heroes. Reflecting on the potential of Ms. Marvel joining the X-Men, Vellani added, “I never thought about that. Because I still have my own X-Men characters that I look back to, and I think those books are so timeless in a way… And I don’t know if people are actually looking to her as the literal new mutant and this is the new generation. But yeah, I don’t think that’s for me to say. I think the audience will take these two miniseries that I’ve done, and hopefully, they’re happy with the results.”

In a separate discussion with Polygon, Vellani provided a promising update concerning her character’s tenure in the MCU, affirming her continued involvement. “I have been assured. So that feels good, but there was no more assurance than that. They give me breadcrumbs, and I try and make a meal out of it,” she said. Moreover, the actress revealed an intriguing possibility for Ms. Marvel’s arc, stating she would like to explore the role of a villain if given a second season.

With close to a decade’s experience in the entertainment industry, Vellani’s passion for film and the actress’s unique position make her a fan-favorite within the MCU.

The idea of Ms. Marvel joining forces with the X-Men is not only exciting for fans but also reflective of the ever-expanding nature of the MCU. As the franchise continues to explore new team-ups and storylines, Vellani’s aspirations for her character could very well align with the future direction of Marvel’s storytelling. For now, audiences and the actress alike eagerly await the next steps for Ms. Marvel in the cinematic universe.
