Established by Nintendo in 1990 as its European subsidiary, Nintendo of Europe GmbH operated from Großostheim and later moved its headquarters to Frankfurt am Main. Responsible for publishing and distributing Nintendo titles across Europe (and often neighboring regions), it handled European releases of games including Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box and Pokémon SoulSilver Version.
