Every so often it feels right to step back and let the community know what is happening here at Retro-Replay. This site has always been about more than just nostalgia, and now we are pushing into something much bigger. From giving away pieces of my personal video game collection, to sharing YouTube revenue, to opening the doors for new writers, there are some exciting opportunities worth sticking to the top of the page.
Our Ongoing Video Game Contest
I have a lot of duplicate games. That is not an exaggeration. We are talking about hundreds upon hundreds of titles, everything from common favorites to surprisingly valuable gems. Instead of trying to sell them off one by one, I thought it would be far more fun to build the Retro-Replay community by giving them away.
The format is simple: every week a new game is revealed and raffled off to readers and participants. This is not some marketing trick or empty giveaway—these are real games from my collection, boxed up and shipped to winners. Some will be PlayStation classics, others might be rare cartridges, and you never quite know what will show up next.
To see how it started and to learn how to get involved, check out the detailed announcement here: I’m Giving Away My Entire Video Game Collection (Starting with This PS1 Gem). That post walks you through the rules and explains how you can participate. Keep checking back, because the giveaways will continue until the duplicates are gone.
Our YouTube Channel – Monetized and Ready for Creators
The Retro-Replay YouTube channel, @RetroGamingReplay, is already monetized, but here is the problem: I simply do not upload enough content to keep it growing at the pace it deserves. The community has been generous, and the channel is set up to earn AdSense revenue, yet right now it is going stale.
This is where passionate retro gamers come in. I am opening up the channel to teammates who love recording, sharing, and preserving classic gaming. Upload your own videos—longplays, reviews, commentary, speedruns, collection showcases, whatever inspires you. The important part is that you will keep 100% of the AdSense revenue tied to your uploads. I do not want a cut.
When your videos hit $100 in earnings, I will send you your share directly via PayPal, or sooner if you prefer. You will have access to analytics to track your performance and growth. This is not a drill—it is a chance to make something real out of your passion for retro gaming while being part of a larger, established channel.
Writing for Retro-Replay – Open Staff Positions
Video is just one part of the picture. Retro-Replay has always thrived on written content too, from in-depth reviews to retrospectives and community stories. That is why I am looking for writers who want to join the team.
The setup is straightforward. You write the articles you care about, and you collect your own AdSense revenue from your work. WordPress makes it possible to track individual contributions, and I am already being told there are simple ways to track each writer’s ad earnings. That means you do not need to worry about splitting payments or losing ownership of your work—you can see exactly what you earn.
If you love writing about games, culture, hardware, music, or even the oddities of retro history, this is your chance to contribute while building your own audience. As with the YouTube opportunity, I am not looking to take from you. I want this site to grow through your creativity, and the reward will be yours.
