Azahar 2126.0 Alpha 1 has been released, featuring significant updates for the open-source 3DS emulator based on Citra. The new “MXE” build variant replaces the deprecated MSYS2 variant, ensuring a seamless transition for users. Key enhancements include a command line interface for compression, improved GDB functionality, and accurate GPU timing emulation, which resolves timing issues in Luigi’s Mansion 2 and allows Super Mario 3D Land save files to load properly. Other updates enhance error messages, adjust headphone audio behavior, and optimize shader memory usage. Users can download the new version for Windows and Android.

This variant will replace the now-obsolete MSYS2 variant, which will be removed in the 2127.0 update as discussed earlier.
Migrating from MSYS2 to MXE will be hassle-free for users, so current MSYS2 users need not worry.

This enhancement boosts emulation accuracy by closely replicating real hardware behavior.
This PR has resolved GPU timing problems in Luigi’s Mansion 2/Dark Moon, now making it playable without needing the “delay render thread” option, while likely impacting other titles as well.
Furthermore, this PR fixes an issue in Super Mario 3D Land that prevented save files from loading post-game completion.
While this significant change is advantageous, it may unintentionally introduce issues. If problems arise in games that didn’t previously have them, users can turn off the new “Simulate 3DS GPU timings” setting to see if it’s the source of the trouble. Please report any new issues encountered.
