Digital Eclipse Software, Inc.
Founded in Emeryville, California in 1992, Digital Eclipse Software, Inc. began as a developer specialising in emulation and ports of classic arcade and handheld titles. Early work recreated Williams arcade games for Mac and the studio became prolific on Game Boy Color and other portable platforms across the 1990s and early 2000s. Founders and early leaders include Andrew Ayre (with additional co‑founders documented later). The original studio became Backbone Emeryville after a 2003 merger, and the Digital Eclipse name was revived in 2015; credited projects from its original run include Game Boy Color and console conversions such as Mortal Kombat 4, Spider‑Man, Rayman: Hoodlum’s Revenge and several arcade compilations. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, Windows, PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Dreamcast, GameCube, Nintendo 64, and SEGA Saturn.
