Electronic Arts, Inc.

Founded in 1982 by Trip Hawkins, Electronic Arts began in the early 1980s as a California-based developer and publisher operating from Redwood Shores (Redwood City), California. Early leadership included Hawkins and a small founding team from the PC and Apple communities. Through the 1980s and 1990s the firm expanded into console and PC publishing; recognizable titles from that era attributed to the company include the Madden football releases (for example John Madden Football ’92 and ’93) and the motorcycle racing series Road Rash. The company later grew into a multi‑studio publisher while maintaining its US headquarters in Redwood Shores.
