DOSBox-X Git Version (May 13, 2026)

DOSBox-X Git (2026/05/13) has been compiled, enhancing the DOSBox branch designed for emulating Intel x86 PCs. This allows users to run classic MS-DOS games on modern systems, including Windows and Linux. Recent updates include adjustments to TTF limits, a fix for CD swap issues during IDE emulation, and changes to CD-ROM emulation requiring MSCDEX for proper functionality. The code has been refined to improve stability, such as preventing crashes during CD swapping and updating functions to handle const char* for CDROM emulation. Overall, these enhancements improve DOSBox-X’s usability for retro gaming enthusiasts.

DOSBox-X Git (2026/05/13) has been compiled. DOSBox-x is a fork of DOSBox. DOSBox emulates an Intel x86 PC, including sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, and other essential components to run many classic MS-DOS games that cannot be executed on current PCs and operating systems like Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, and FreeBSD.

DOSBox-X Changelog:
* Merged pull request #6284 from emendelson/master
* Updated output_ttf.cpp
* Added option to disable TTF winperc limit
* Additional improvements
* Moved subUnit into the base class
* Recent modifications affected CD swap through IDE emulation; fixed this
* MSCDEX remains necessary for CD-ROM emulation; while single CD emulation functions without it, it leads to crashes during CD swapping without it
* Avoid using DOS_WriteFile from the ISO driver while running in a guest OS
* UpdateMscdex no longer needs to duplicate the path string; both are const char* now
* SetDevice and other CDROM emulation functions now accept C strings that they never modify; changed from char* to const char*
* Retabbed
* Cleaned up cdrom reference
