DOSBox-X v2026.05.02 has been released. DOSBox-X is a version of DOSBox. DOSBox simulates an Intel x86 PC, complete with sound, graphics, mouse, joystick, modem, and more, which are essential for playing many classic MS-DOS games that cannot be run on current PCs and operating systems, such as Microsoft Windows XP, Windows Vista, Linux, and FreeBSD.
DOSBox-X Changelog:
DOSBox-X now scans both the current directory and the .config
directory in your home for DOSBox-X logo PNG files.
You can configure a default set of PNG files for all uses of DOSBox-X from your user account. (joncampbell123).

When DOS games use the Adlib FM chip for “digitized speech”, DOSBox-X
correctly emulates that, and it also emulates the low
volume from the sound card output. To enhance audio audibility, a new option “adlib pcm boost” has been added. If activated,
and the Adlib emulation identifies that the guest application is
playing PCM audio, the FM output audio levels will be increased for clearer digitized speech.

Fixed TTF mapping to match the guest codepage when launched with
output=ttf. (maron2000)
Limited the window size of TTF output to 2/3 of the screen in both

Addressed segfault in TTF output code caused by codepage mapping when the
TTF output is inactive. (joncampbell123)
