It is an advancement of the original FCE Ultra emulator, which over time branched out into multiple segments. The goal of FCEUX is to integrate features from FCE Ultra, FCEU rerecording, FCEUXD, FCEUXDSP, and FCEU-mm into one cohesive branch of FCEU. The ‘X’ signifies that it is a comprehensive FCEU emulator that caters to casual players, the ROM-hacking community, and the Tool-Assisted Speedrun Community.
