NegaMAME v0.288 has been released, enhancing the NNegatron front-end designed to simplify user experience. Initially launched in November 2015, NNegatron was the first front-end to unlock MAME’s machine configurations. However, MAME’s changes in May 2017 limited third-party access to vital information. In June 2018, Negatron partnered with NegaMAME, a derivative that adds a command to recover the lost information, allowing Negatron to regain its comprehensive features. While other front-ends have made progress since then, changes in MAME’s information-sharing methods in May 2017 with version v0.186 restricted access to crucial data for third-party front-ends. In June 2018, Negatron reasserted its capabilities by collaborating with the new MAME derivative known as NegaMAME. This version functions identically to the official MAME but includes a command that enables third-party front-ends to retrieve the information that was inaccessible since v0.186, allowing Negatron to regain its comprehensive range of features from 2015.
