NegaMAME v0.289 has been released, featuring the NNegatron front-end designed for user-friendliness. Launched in November 2015, it was the first front-end to fully exploit MAME’s machine configurations. Changes made to MAME in May 2017 limited third-party front-ends’ access to important information. However, in June 2018, Negatron collaborated with NegaMAME, a new MAME derivative, to restore this access. NegaMAME functions like official MAME but includes a command that allows third-party front-ends to retrieve previously unavailable data, enabling Negatron to regain its original features from 2015. Since its initial launch in November 2015, it was the first front-end to fully leverage the machine configuration options available in MAME. While other front-ends have made progress since then, MAME introduced changes in May 2017 with v0.186 that limited access to crucial information for third-party front-ends. In June 2018, Negatron demonstrated its capabilities once more by collaborating with the new MAME variant, NegaMAME. NegaMAME functions identically to the official MAME but introduces a command that allows third-party front-ends to retrieve the previously missing information since v0.186, thereby enabling Negatron to restore full access to all features it had back in 2015.
