I have recently uncovered an archived copy of a lost River City Ransom Editor whilst searching for something to insert & extract text; the source websites no longer exist ([url]http://desnet.kodewerx.net/index.php?page=utilities&id=21[/url], [url]http://barf09.googlecode.com/[/url]), though the latter was archived on the Wayback machine and so was the download file.
Comedically named "BARF!", ("The adly [A]cronymmed [R]iver City Ransom Modi[F]ier"), the game editor includes:
-Text editing (NPC Names/Conversation, Shop Conversation, Location Names, etc.)
-And an incomplete background editor
-Shop Item Editor(?) ("Shop Items, Stock List")

WIN32 ===== - Please download the latest version of the wxLua binary package from http://wxlua.sourceforge.net/download.php (v2.8.7.0 at time of writing) and extract it into this directory (so that there is a subdirectory called "wxLua-2.8.7.0-MSW-dll" that contains "samples", "docs" and "bin". - Double click "win32.run.bat" to start BARF.
