ShadPS4 Changelog:
shadPS4 v0.18.0 “UltraPersona”
Greetings! It’s been a short while since our last stable release, but we’re excited to introduce a new one. The primary reason for this update is to address shadNet authorization issues that occurred in certain scenarios with the 0.17.0 version, along with several intriguing new features.
First, after implementing some fixes, AvPlayer can now function as LLE, requiring the libSceAvPlayer.sprx (and libSceAvPlayerStreaming.sprx) modules, thereby resolving broken video playback in some games.
This improvement was made possible by invoking sceLibcInternalMemoryMutexEnable in LLE LibcInternal during boot, discovered by @liuk7071, the creator of ChonkyStation4, another PS4 emulator.
A rewrite of kernel event flags has also remedied the hanging issue in Shadow of the Colossus during boot, allowing the game to consistently reach the menus.
Another significant addition is experimental red zone protection, which addresses a problem exclusive to 12th generation (and newer) Intel CPUs on Windows that was causing crashes and other unpredictable behavior in many games due to Windows exception handling affecting stack red zones.
The new release also includes NpTus, enhancing the functionality of shadNet.
A few additional GPU fixes have been made, such as correcting shadows in Persona titles and fixing certain effects in inFAMOUS and Gravity Rush 2. There may be more fixes in other titles, but it’s up to you, the testers and users, to discover them.
Below, you can find a comprehensive list of changes for version 0.18.0. Happy testing! 🙂
