Ymir Version Control (April 27, 2026)

Ymir Git (2026/04/27) is a work-in-progress Sega Saturn emulator featuring game loading from various file formats (BIN+CUE, IMG+CCD, MDF+MDS, ISO), automatic BIOS detection, and region switching. It supports up to two players with customizable keybindings, backup RAM, and save management options. Key features include save states, one-minute rewinding at 60 fps, turbo speed, and debugging tools. The changelog highlights various performance improvements and fixes, especially for the VDP2 graphics engine. Enhancements include optimized calculations, memory management, and build process adjustments. The emulator is available for download.

Load games from BIN+CUE, IMG+CCD, MDF+MDS, or ISO formats
Automatic detection of IPL (BIOS) ROM
Automatic switching between regions
Support for up to two players using standard Control Pads on both ports (more features to come)
Fully customizable key bindings
Support for Backup RAM and DRAM cartridges (more features to come)
Integrated backup memory manager to import/export saves and transfer between internal and cartridge RAM
Save states functionality
Rewind (up to one minute at 60 fps), turbo speed, and frame stepping (both forwards and backwards)
A feature-rich debugger that is still in development
