Compile
Compile Co., Ltd. was a Tokyo-based Japanese game developer founded by Masamitsu Niitani in 1982. Active chiefly through the 1980s and 1990s, the studio built a catalog of shoot ’em ups (Zanac and Aleste series) and the Madō Monogatari dungeon‑RPGs whose characters were repurposed into the puzzle hits Puyo Puyo. Financial trouble in the late 1990s led to the company’s collapse and several later companies—notably Compile Heart and Niitani’s Compile Maru—share personnel or lineage but are legally distinct entities. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as MSX, Wii, Windows, Game Gear, NES, PlayStation 3, PSP, SNES, Genesis, and SEGA Master System.
