MicroProse Software, Inc.
Founded in Baltimore in 1982 by designer Sid Meier and airline pilot Bill “Wild Bill” Stealey (with Andy Hollis later a key developer), MicroProse began as a developer and publisher of computer simulations and strategy titles. During the 1980s and early 1990s the company produced a string of flight and combat simulators such as F-117A Stealth Fighter and Super Strike Eagle alongside strategy work led by Meier, most famously the Civilization lineage and its sequels. Offices and studios expanded into the U.K. and Europe as the firm grew. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as Windows, Commodore 64, DOS, Atari 8-bit, Amiga, Atari ST, Apple II, Amstrad CPC, ZX Spectrum, and MSX.
