Nintendulator 0.985 beta (2026/08/22) has been released. Nintendulator is an open-source Win32 NES emulator developed in C with some assembly enhancements. The primary aim was to replicate the NES down to its hardware idiosyncrasies; while it has lagged in development over the years, recent updates have successfully caught up and can replicate certain behaviors that many other emulators overlook. However, achieving this level of emulation accuracy requires a CPU of at least 1500MHz (estimated) or faster to run smoothly.
Supported formats include .NES, UNIF, FDS (fwNES format), and NSF. Mappers are handled through external DLLs and allow for additional sound channels for most compatible games. Other key features include the ability to write to FDS images (by storing differences in the SRAM folder), limited Game Genie support (up to 3 codes), customizable controllers (including support for 4 players), recording and playback of input movies (with re-recording support), AVI capturing, and an integrated debugger.
