LJN, Ltd.

LJN, Ltd. began as a New York–based toy company founded by Jack Friedman in 1970 and later used the LJN Entertainment label for video games from the late 1980s into the early 1990s. Operating as a publisher rather than an in-house developer, it released licensed console and handheld titles such as Bill & Ted’s Excellent Video Game Adventure, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Spider-Man, WWF Superstars and NFL Quarterback Club. Ownership changed when MCA acquired a majority stake in the mid-1980s and the brand was sold to Acclaim in 1989, with the LJN label phased out by the mid-1990s.
