Getting caught up: game music from Atari to GameCube
This archive round-up moves from Atari’s short cues and themes through Sega and Nintendo handhelds to the fuller soundtracks of the Dreamcast and GameCube years.
Atari 2600
Atari 2600 listings run from the opening theme of Asteroids and Ballblazer to Frogger, Pitfall!, Pac-Man, and Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. The page also separates game starts, deaths, level clears, title screens, and several remixes for the same games.
Atari Systems
Atari family page is reserved for Atari music collections, but it currently shows no linked system pages. Would you rather group Atari listening by console generation or keep the systems split as they are?
Dreamcast
Dreamcast soundtrack list gathers everything from Crazy Taxi’s licensed songs and Jet Grind Radio to Shenmue, Skies of Arcadia, Ikaruga, and a substantial Sonic Adventure selection. Resident Evil - Code: Veronica includes its music box, save-room, battle, and piano-arrangement entries, while several Sonic tracks appear in alternate versions.
Game Gear
Game Gear selection gives the handheld Sonic games a major share of the page, including Sonic Chaos, Sonic Blast, Sonic Drift, Sonic Spinball, and Sonic Triple Trouble. There are also arranged tracks for Dragon Crystal and Shinobi, plus music from Defenders of Oasis, Ristar, Streets of Rage, and Tails Adventures.
Gameboy
Game Boy catalog ranges from early themes for Alleyway and Balloon Kid to deep track lists for Castlevania, Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy, and Dragon Warrior games. Donkey Kong Land alone is represented by jungle, cave, pirate-ship, snow, temple, and boss selections alongside multiple alternate versions.
Gameboy Advance
Game Boy Advance collection brings together Advance Wars commanders’ themes, three Game Boy Advance Castlevanias, F-Zero courses, and Fire Emblem battle music. The list also includes Final Fantasy remakes, Astro Boy: Omega Factor, Banjo-Kazooie: Grunty’s Revenge, and several Disney Sports soundtracks.
Gamecube
GameCube music page spans Animal Crossing’s hourly tunes, F-Zero GX races, Kirby Air Ride courses, and the Wind Waker’s islands, dungeons, and sea voyages. Its Animal Crossing entries include shop themes, K.K. tracks, weather music, and the changing clock-hour selections.
Genesis
Genesis soundtrack list packs in Castlevania Bloodlines, Castle of Illusion, Comix Zone, Crusader of Centy, Ecco, and a long run of Sega and third-party action games. Several entries identify arrangements or versions made for GS, XG, WinGroove, AWE, or Sound Blaster playback.
Master System
Master System collection is particularly rich in paired standard and FM-labelled entries for After Burner, Alex Kidd, California Games, Captain Silver, Cloud Master, and Fantasy Zone. It also lays out individual worlds, rounds, bosses, endings, and game-over pieces across the system’s library.
Which system’s page makes the best case for listening to level themes and menu music separately from the famous title tracks?
