Gameplay
Neko Daisuki! starts with an immediately understandable promise: you are responsible for a tiny kitten, and its care becomes the whole point. Training, discipline, pets, and toy mice give you several ways to interact with it, but the real hook is the routine. You check in, make a choice, and gradually build the kind of attachment that made virtual pets so easy to carry everywhere.
Its strongest idea is letting you walk around freely in first person, even when the cat is not with you. That small bit of freedom keeps the game from feeling completely trapped in pet-care screens. Moving through the home gives your kitten’s life a place, and it makes the quieter moments between care tasks feel more personal.
The limitation is also clear. This is a narrowly focused simulation, and the same basic responsibilities are meant to occupy you for the long haul. That can be soothing if you like checking on a virtual animal in short sessions. If you need constant surprises or a lot of decision-making depth, the daily loop may start to feel thin.

Graphics
The Game Gear artwork is clean and pleasantly domestic. A bathroom uses pale tile, a warm orange tub area, and a window to create a recognizable little room, while the hallway’s long wooden floorboards and striped rug give the first-person walk a cozy sense of place.
The cats are drawn as tiny, chunky pixel animals with distinct coat colors and markings. They are simple, but expressive enough to make the game feel more affectionate than clinical.

Story
This is not a game built around a scripted plot. Its story is the one you make out of looking after a newborn kitten and deciding how you want to treat it over time.
Training and discipline give that modest premise some personality. A strict approach and a more indulgent one can make the routine feel different in your own head, even when the game stays focused on everyday caretaking rather than big narrative turns.
Walking around without the cat adds a surprisingly lonely beat to that tiny story. The empty rooms underline the idea that the kitten is the reason these familiar spaces matter, which suits the game’s quiet, homebound scale.

Overall Experience
Neko Daisuki! is a small, sincere pet sim with a clear audience. It understands that the pleasure of raising a virtual animal comes from repeated attention, not from a complicated challenge. The first-person home exploration is a welcome touch that gives its simple caretaking loop a little atmosphere.
It is also very much a game you have to meet halfway. You need to enjoy routine for routine’s sake, because the central activities are training, discipline, and giving the kitten attention. The battery-backed save support matters here, since the game works best as something you return to rather than rush through in one sitting.
Give it a chance if you have a soft spot for old-school virtual pets and want a cat-focused Game Gear oddity with a warmer setting than most. Skip it if you want a dense simulation or a story with major turns. For the right mood, its modest little household can be genuinely comforting.
