Invaders Possibly from Space

Invaders Possibly from Space drops you into the familiar Space Invaders rhythm immediately: slide along the bottom, fire upward through five descending rows, and try not to let slow laser shots catch you while you clear a path. It is a straightforward little arcade tribute, and the first few rounds have that pleasantly tense, score-chasing cadence the original formula still does well.

The Futurama dressing gives the game a bit more personality through show pictures and audio clips, while the 3D-rendered backdrop separates it from a completely bare imitation. Still, this is a very narrow experience built around one enduring arcade loop. Give it a look if you want a quick Space Invaders-style diversion with Futurama flavor; do not expect it to grow beyond that premise.

Gameplay

The first minute tells you exactly what you are getting. You sit at the bottom of the screen, firing up at five coordinated rows of aliens as they march left and right and gradually work their way down. Their shots are slow enough to read, but not so slow that you can switch your brain off; the fun comes from threading your ship through incoming fire while keeping your own shots aimed at a shrinking formation.

That old Space Invaders structure remains sturdy because every shot matters. You are not simply spraying at enemies: you are trying to open gaps, avoid being boxed in, and decide when it is safe to use the three shields. Since your own fire can wear those shields down as well, they are less of a permanent safety net than an expendable bit of cover. That small pressure gives the otherwise simple loop some welcome bite.

The flying saucer is the right kind of interruption. When it streaks across the screen, it tempts you to shift focus from the descending invaders and take a quick shot. It is a familiar arcade flourish, but it adds a little urgency to rounds that could otherwise become too predictable.

Frustration will set in if you need a shooter to reveal new ideas as it goes. This is deliberately close to its source material, so the repetition is not a side effect—it is the whole deal. If the basic left-right movement, careful shooting, and steadily advancing alien wall already works on you, that focus feels honest. If it does not, the Futurama theme will not fundamentally change your mind.

Graphics

The action stays in the classic side-view arrangement: your ship and its three shields at the bottom, five rows of alien sprites above, and the saucer cutting across horizontally. A 3D-rendered background sits behind the battlefield, while pictures from Futurama add some extra show-specific decoration around the familiar invasion setup.

Story

The Futurama connection is a coat of paint rather than a grand narrative hook. You are facing an alien invasion in a game that openly borrows the Space Invaders setup, and the show supplies the recognizable context rather than a new dramatic arc.

Pictures and audio clips from the show are the main source of character here. They can make a short session feel less anonymous than a plain arcade clone, especially if you enjoy the series and recognize the material being referenced.

That makes the theme most effective as a light joke shared with fans. It is enough to give the shooting a distinct flavor, but the lasting tension still comes from the aliens closing in and your cover slowly disappearing.

Overall Experience

Invaders Possibly from Space is a compact, faithful arcade tribute that knows the strength of the loop it is borrowing. There is immediate satisfaction in shaving down the alien rows, taking a chance on the saucer, and surviving a little longer as the pressure builds.

Its limitation is equally clear: nearly everything rests on how much you still enjoy Space Invaders. The 3D background, Futurama images, and sound clips add personality, but they do not turn the game into a substantially different kind of shooter.

For a quick, uncomplicated blast, that can be enough. Futurama fans with a soft spot for old fixed-screen shooters should find a few enjoyable rounds here. Everyone else is likely to appreciate the reference more than they will feel compelled to keep playing.
