Activision Publishing, Inc.
Activision Publishing, Inc. is an American video game publisher that began as Activision, founded in 1979 by former Atari programmers David Crane, Alan Miller, Robert (Bob) Whitehead and Larry Kaplan with executive Jim Levy. Originating in California, the corporate entity later used the name Activision Publishing, Inc. after a series of restructurings and reincorporations in the 1990s and 2000s. Over the decades the company served as the publisher for hundreds of console, handheld and PC titles — including licensed and rhythm-series releases such as the Guitar Hero and DJ Hero lines — while operating from the greater Southern California/California corporate footprint documented in regulatory and company filings. The game entries below, including versions and later rereleases grouped in this archive, span systems such as Windows, PlayStation 2, Xbox 360, Xbox, PlayStation 3, GameCube, Wii, Game Boy Advance, DOS, and Nintendo DS.
