KOEI Co., Ltd.

Founded in July 1978 in Yokohama, Japan, KOEI Co., Ltd. began as a publisher-developer led by husband-and-wife founders Yōichi Erikawa and Keiko Erikawa. Operating from the late 1970s through the 2000s under the KOEI name, the company produced and published long-running strategy and historical simulation series such as Nobunaga’s Ambition and Romance of the Three Kingdoms, and expanded into action and licensed franchises across many platforms. In 2009 the firm merged with Tecmo to form the holding lineage now known as Koei Tecmo; regional branches and later corporate names are distinct from the original 1978 company entity.
