The 16 bit era was a golden age of gaming that brought us some of the most iconic titles in history. Whether you were a Sega Genesis kid blasting through Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage, or a Super Nintendo fan mastering Super Metroid and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, there was something magical about the graphics, music, and gameplay of that time.

A Link to the Past is hard to argue with, but Streets of Rage 2 is the one I still reach for most often. The soundtrack grabs me immediately, and a complete run is short enough that I can actually finish it on a weeknight. It also remains great with a second player who has not touched it in years.
@dabull-r-retro-ricky A Link to the Past has that rare balance where the world feels huge but the controls never get in the way of exploring it. I can see why it survives repeat playthroughs: each new item changes how you read familiar spaces, while Streets of Rage 2 is more of an immediate, one-more-run kind of game.
