Tecmo, Ltd.

Tecmo, Ltd. began as Tehkan in Japan and traces its corporate origin to July 31, 1967; it moved into electronic games in the early 1980s. Headquartered in Japan, key early leadership includes founder Yoshihito Kakihara. The company used the Tecmo name from the mid-1980s and operated as an arcade and home-game developer and publisher through the 1980s–2000s. Notable titles attributable to Tecmo include Solomon’s Key, Ninja Gaiden (series entries across multiple platforms), Tecmo Super Baseball and Tecmo Bowl–era sports releases, as well as later console-era entries such as Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Ninja Gaiden II.
