DiRT 3: X Games Asia Track Pack

DiRT 3: X Games Asia Track Pack is a small, focused addition: two circuits set in Shibuya, Tokyo, dropped into Codemasters’ rally-racing package. If you already enjoy DiRT 3’s handling and want a couple more places to run it, the pack gets you back behind the wheel quickly.

The catch is that these tracks had already appeared in DiRT 2, so returning players may feel they are buying a revisit rather than a fresh destination. It makes more sense as a modest track top-up, or as part of DiRT 3: Complete Edition, than as a must-have standalone purchase.

Gameplay

The immediate draw is simple: two extra circuits give you more excuses to enjoy DiRT 3’s racing without asking you to learn a new mode or rethink how the game works. Load in, take on the Shibuya courses, and you are dealing with a compact extension rather than a major expansion. That can be refreshing when all you want is another pair of tracks in a game you already like.

The limitation arrives just as quickly. Two circuits is a slim offering, and the pack’s value rests almost entirely on how much you want more DiRT 3 track time. There is no larger campaign-sized hook in the premise; this is extra road, not a new reason to start playing from scratch.

Returning DiRT 2 players should be especially cautious. These Shibuya tracks were previously used there, so familiarity can turn the first lap from a pleasant homecoming into a disappointing sense of repetition. If you missed DiRT 2, that history barely matters. If you played it heavily, it is the central reason to pause before buying.

Graphics

The pack’s concrete visual hook is its Shibuya, Tokyo location. Racing through circuits placed in that city gives the add-on a distinct urban destination within DiRT 3’s selection of events, even if there are only two courses to see.

Story

There is no story to chase here. X Games Asia Track Pack is a track add-on, and it treats that role plainly: pick the circuits and race.

That lack of narrative is not a problem for a two-track DLC, but it does make the purchase decision brutally straightforward. You are paying for location and replay value, not characters, progression drama, or a fresh layer of context around the races.

For a game built around driving, that directness can be fine. Just do not expect Shibuya to become anything more than the setting for a couple of additional competitive runs.

Overall Experience

X Games Asia Track Pack feels like a small bonus that will land differently depending on your history with the series. DiRT 3 fans who never owned DiRT 2 get two more Tokyo circuits and a clean excuse to return to a favorite racer. That is modest, but it is honest.

For DiRT 2 veterans, the recycled tracks make this tougher to recommend on its own. Familiar courses can still be fun, especially when revisiting them through DiRT 3, but the add-on does not have enough volume to overcome the feeling that you have been here before.

The best fit is a DiRT 3 regular who wants every available circuit, or anyone getting the content through DiRT 3: Complete Edition. Everyone else can comfortably treat it as optional: a competent two-track detour, not an essential stop on the tour.
