The Amazing Spider-Man: Oscorp Search and Destroy Pack

Oscorp Search and Destroy is a tiny arcade detour tucked into The Amazing Spider-Man’s cellphone rather than a substantial expansion. Destroy the City turns the familiar Snake loop into a New York grid, where smashing cars makes your growing trail harder to manage while Spider-Man becomes another hazard in your path.

Gwen’s Hunter is the stronger pick if you want straightforward shooting: an Oscorp robot clears wave after wave of infected animals and grabs occasional health-restoring power-ups. Neither mode has much room to grow beyond its arcade premise, but they work as quick score-chasing breaks for anyone who enjoys old-school fixed-screen games.

Gameplay

This pack knows exactly how long it wants to hold your attention. You open Spider-Man’s cellphone, choose a mini-game, and are immediately in a compact arcade challenge. That directness suits downloadable side content, especially if you want a quick diversion without leaving the larger game for long.

Destroy the City puts a good comic-book twist on Snake. Your snake travels through a New York City grid, destroying cars as it goes, but every success leaves you with more body to avoid. Spider-Man is another moving problem, so the board gets tighter from two directions: your own tail and the hero trying to stop you. It is a simple setup, yet the tension of planning one safe turn ahead is easy to understand.

Gwen’s Hunter is even more immediately familiar, borrowing the fixed-screen, wave-clearing rhythm of Galaga. You pilot an Oscorp robot against infected animals, firing through successive waves and watching for power-ups that restore health. The health pickups give a run a little breathing room, though the mode remains a clean, score-minded shooter rather than something with a long progression curve.

The limitation is also the point: these are two narrowly focused variations on arcade staples. If the original game’s cellphone diversions already felt like a pleasant break, this adds more of that exact flavor. If you wanted new Spider-Man action or a meaty mission set, the pack’s small-scale design will run out of novelty quickly.

Graphics

Destroy the City uses a New York City grid where cars, Spider-Man, and your ever-lengthening snake need to stay easy to spot at a glance. Gwen’s Hunter keeps the view fixed on an Oscorp robot and incoming infected-animal waves, fitting its old-school shooter structure.

Story

There is only a light narrative frame here, built around Oscorp and its hostile creations rather than a new chapter of Spider-Man’s adventure. That is enough to give the two diversions a place in the same universe, but the focus stays firmly on the next run.

Destroy the City gets the more playful setup: you are causing damage across New York while Spider-Man becomes an obstacle you must avoid. It flips the usual superhero perspective for a few minutes and gives the Snake format a fitting target.

Gwen’s Hunter has a cleaner conflict, sending an Oscorp robot against infected animals in waves. The premise does not need much explanation because the action is so immediate. Treat these as themed arcade vignettes, not as story content that changes your view of the main game.

Overall Experience

Oscorp Search and Destroy works best in short bursts. One mode asks you to survive your own expanding path; the other asks you to clear waves and preserve your health. Both make their point quickly, which is welcome when you want a small, self-contained challenge instead of another large objective.

Destroy the City has the sharper tension because every car you destroy makes the next decision riskier, while Gwen’s Hunter is the more dependable choice for uncomplicated shooting. Neither mini-game carries the weight of a full add-on, but both have enough of a hook to justify revisiting them for another run.

Give it a chance if arcade throwbacks are part of why you enjoy Spider-Man side activities. For a broader dose of the character’s older games, The Amazing Spider-Man: Lethal Foes is a related entry worth considering. This pack is modest, but it is honest about being a pair of quick phone-based distractions.
