Maxis Software Inc.
Founded in California in 1987 by Will Wright and Jeff Braun, Maxis Software Inc. began as a developer and publisher of simulation “software toys.” During its independent period in the late 1980s and 1990s the studio produced SimCity and a family of Sim titles, later spawning The Sims franchise and the evolution-focused Spore series. Key figures associated with the studio include founder/designer Will Wright; credited releases from this era include SimCity (home-computer releases), The Sims and Spore and their accompanying editors and creature tools.
